ZMF x Vibro MK II - MassDrop LTD Purple Heart Edition

Somewhat portable, I had the blackwoods, but you are going to need a beefy amp. E12 should work fine. So they are more transportable. They are however large in size.

I have the M50x. So is it bigger than that?

I wish there were more than 30 pairs on the drop. You could have easily sold double that, Zach, specially given the massive fail on the TH-X00 drop!

Beautiful headphones anyways.

Hey Zach. I was wondering. Is this ZMF light enough to be portable?

I'd say it's as transportable as any full size headphone, but to call it portable compared to most smaller headphones like the sennheiser momentum and such would be a stretch I think.

Yes - we know we could have sold a lot more, but we want to fulfill these quickly and at a high quality.  We are a small shop and don't want to stretch our capability just because we can.

We also have some cool stuff coming up in our yearly November spectacular....

Zach do you have headband assembly's like the one you used on this phone ?

These are MK III headbands with a durable EPDM foam thinly stretched over them for a soft durable feel.    We are going to put up the cowhide leather comfort straps with the ZMF embossed in them shortly.

Come on, Zach. Are you going to make me wait until November to buy my new set of cans?

---EDIT---
Zach, would this "cool stuff" by any chance come on Massdrop too?

Wow, I actually purchased my pair of Vibro MKII's instead of the X00 PH because I couldnt be asked to wait all summer for a 500 dollar pair of cans. God, do I feel happy that I did.

From an owner of a pair for the last 3 or so months, I can say that this something you all really should jump on

Then I'll probably get these for home or vacation use. Thanks.

I feel very fortunate to have gotten in on this drop (#22).  Mine will not be in the first shipment but I am starting to get excited anyway!  They will be very beautiful and will sound amazing!  I hope there will be no problems with their journey to the UK.

I received a tracking number yesterday.  Mine is in Chicago right now.  I am in the UK.  If you go to the massdrop site you will see that some people have started to leave impressions.

I received mine yesterday and am doing a first listen now.  I opted for the case, and am glad I did, though I wish that they fit better with the cables connected.  Aesthetically they are really pleasing - the purpleheart cups are beautiful, and the headband and all components look solid and durable.  The included certificate is cool; drives home the fact that this is a hand-crafted rather than mass-produced product.  The thick pads are really comfy.

I am too impatient to (and skeptical of the benefits of) burn in, so out of the case impressions while listening to a few tracks from a variety of genres through Tidal > Geekout V2+ Infinity are very positive.  The soundstage is impressive with good separation, and these are "fun" without losing fine details.  The bass is substantial though not excessively punchy, vocals are forward, though the treble is a tad harsh for my ears.  From reading reviews of other ZMF cans, perhaps the treble can be tuned more to my liking with the included plugs.  I am looking forward to playing with the plugs, and trying these with some high res tracks with Foobar and the Mojo.

So far, I am super happy with this purchase.  I've spent more on other cans that I really didn't like until I invested in better equipment (EL-8s, cough, cough......), so I am looking forward to spending more time with these over the weekend.

Got mine last night. Listening through my Schiit Stack (Vali 2 + Modi Multibit), and it sounds absolutely fantastic. Used to own a stock T50RP and I'd like to characterize these ZMFs as being the way the drivers were supposed to sound, with some nice bottom end. In general the it does sound a little muffled, but I'm hoping that'll go away with some burn-in. I'm planning to purchase the upgraded cables later on. As far as any "negatives" go, my only complaint, and it's very minor, is that I wish the "ZMF" lettering on the stickers were a different color, perhaps a purple to match the wood. The white, to me, just looks aesthetically out of place. Overall though, great purchase.
