I have both open and closed and couldn’t imagine getting rid of one of them at this point...especially if I just pad roll them, they both can produce some cool differences...even though I tend to just leave one pad set on all the time lol

Question can you get them to sound very similar with the flattest FR pads for both? Like the Universe for the VC and the Verite for the VO?

I've been farming in Borderlands 3 all day with them while listening to my favorite tracks at the same time. The game has a much different tempo to it when you put on an Techno/House station and mute the in game volume. Haha

Let us know how you like the Hell!

That's how I raid in MMOs but with metal!

I think they are different enough that even if you pad swapped to get them as close to neutral, that they would get closer in sound but ultimately the differences would actually become more apparent. In fact m pretty sure those are the pads I currently have on each...I might have the BE2 on the Verite Opens...I’ll check when I get home.

As Zach mentioned what happens with the VS pads is the midbass drops. What I hear is a slight increase in treble and better imaging. Even though the VS has a less full sound in the midbass, the subbass still sounds intact. The VL has a more even FR and a warmer sound. I like the VS when i need a larger, less forward soundstage with more pinpoint imaging.

I am curious about these new hybrid pads Zach mentioned.

How do the Universe Suede vs the Universe lambskin pads sound? Have to admit I am not a fan of the UL pads but maybe the US pads will be more to my liking?

The US have a more linear response than the UL. The US are not as large sounding in their stage. The US lose some of the sharpness in resolution/detail.

Overall I prefer the VL for it's tightness, forwardness, and detail/resolution capabilities.

Looks like Cocobolo is no longer available for Verite and Auteur. Can't wait to see what's next :)
Maybe Goncalo Alves

Or zebrawood perhaps?

Those would look good me thinks.

By the way, any impressions on your LP vs MJ2, with your VO? With my kids wanting big presents for the holiday, it looks like I am not going to have big amp money, but maybe I will have small amp money? Maybe I can catch a BF sale for either the LP, MJ2 or something else?

I’ve been pretty busy with school and work so I haven’t got as much time to listen and compare as I would like to. But I will say they’re both phenomenal with the vérité. Both are a large step up from the ZDT JR and the bottle head crack. If I had to pick one I would go with the liquid platinum for its form factor and color scheme that fits better on my desk and matches more stuff. But as far as sound performance I find myself preferring one or the other based on the songs almost equally.

I’ve had my Verite since this summer and loved them from the second I started listening. However, that also meant that I haven’t experimented with any pad rolling. The Universe lambskin sounded great and coming from the Ether 2s, I was worried about the potential science experiment aspect of pad rolling.

Boy was i wrong. What an easy and awesome pad rolling system. I feel like an idiot for not doing this sooner.

As for the pad roll, I put on the Verite Lamskin that came with the Verites. What a pleasant change. The presentation is more forward, vocals standout more, the staging is a little more complete feeling with the imaging more precise. I’m loving the new sound the Verite pads give my already favorite headphones ever.

Has anyone asked themselves where does Zach go from here? I have lived with these headphones for a while now and one of the things I enjoy is pulling out albums I almost forgot i had and having that Verite magic sprinkled on it. You may have shot your bolt too soon son, good luck with your next endeavour!
