I've got 400-450 hours on my Verite so far... With my gear and for my tastes, I have preferred the Verite pads to the Universe pads. Today, I just fitted the suede Universe pads - first impressions besides the supreme comfort, less bloom in the bass compared to the leather Universe, tho I would have to do some proper A/B than rely on memory (I haven't run the original U pads for a long time). Have a set of BE pads coming too, will be interesting to hear how they change the sound.

what's the overall tonality like with the Suede Universe pads? I'm guessing it keeps the stage presentation of the leather universe while bringing up more air and presence in the treble without sounding peaky?

hello fellow members,
I own the Utopia and Ether2 and enjoy them both. They are polar opposites imo, which has lead me to develop interest for the Verite or Empryean.
to get to the point_
I was wondering if anyone has heard both and can chime in and give their thoughts on Verite vs Empryean,
any insight would be appreciated!

Check my YouTube channel. In my Empyrean review I compare the two.

So after spending a few days with the be2 pads and today going back to the Universe, I think I'll end up sticking with the be2 pads. Even as a whore for soundstage, I think the be2 pads strike a good balance between the pros of the verite and universe pads. As mentioned before, the 3d/holographic nature of the Universe pads are still a bit there with the be2 pads which i always missed with the verite pads. The increase in treble is also there but as another user mentioned without sacrificing so much of the sound stage. Youll still feel your ear against the cup but not so much as the verite pads. Comfort wise, maybe the universe pads are slightly more comfortable, but the be2s are definitely just as good if not nearly.

If you like large hall type presentation, Verite the go... For studio / oldie jazz club presentation, Empyrean the go... I find Verite more lively, musical and Empy more clinical, precise... But since you have Utopia, it's more precise than Empy...

I can comment on the Ether 2 versus both the Vérité and Aeolus. I had the Vérité and E2 at the same time and found the latter to rather boring. I’m finding that I am a bit of a “mid-head,” and in being so, a big fan of the ZMF “house sound.” I ended up trading my E2 for a Zircote Aeolus and haven’t looked back.

Finally home after a brief tour of the East Coast and collected my Milo from the UPS Store. Jamming Stevie Ray Vaughn’s “Tin Pan Alley,” damn, the bass line is almost causing motion sickness! It’s not overpowering, but it’s oh so powerful, the Milo really shows off the Vérité’s dynamics, impact and ability to start and stop on a dime. This is a great Track, deep driving bass, Stevie’s hard strikes (wonder how many strings he went through), and percussion, all with pitch black background.

SRV's "Mary Had A Little Lamb" in DSD64 (2014 Analogue Productions Remaster) is one of my go to test tracks. I don't own Verite but my ZMF Auteur almost makes me forget to listen "critically" and the foot tapping is so intense I'm afraid I may wake the downstairs neighbors. Not really, I don't have downstairs neighbors but you get the idea: Auteur brings the detail but never at the expense of musicality.
