Congrats. VO certainly has its strengths with higher resolution, extensions on both ends, more sparkles and sub-bass and that 3D stage effect. I see you have the uni suede pads on, am using the same and that is my favourite pad on VO.

I also own the Aeolus(with uni suede pads). Although It is less detailed vs VO, it has that unique mid-range magic and great timbre that sets it apart from others. And it is less amp-picky and forgiving to tracks of lower quality. I recently tried it with Caldera suede pads and it was transformed into something even better; with bass boost and wider staging.

On the other pads you showed, I think they are uni lambskin and BE2 lambskin (I have them both and they do look identical to yours).
AWESOME!! Thanks for letting me know.

Yeah, I've been listening to them for the last few hours. The stage is definitely large and holographic. I listen with EQ and it really opens them up even more. These just sound so smooth.

My VO has arrived. Originally i wanted to wait for the hot summer cup (or even ZMF november) for a special edition, but i got a really good deal for an absolutely stunning looking African Blackwood VO, this thing is impossible to photograph, i tried anyway:

It was Audio-markt.de, bought it from an Italien, it looks so good...
1500€ (1400€ + PP fees + shipping) for that thing is just a banger for us EU people, you probably won't find a better deal.

I already posted some impressions in the Atrium Closed thread (i think).
It's the best laid-back ZMF with less energy at 2-3k. I tried every ZMF and on some of them i wasn't a fan of that shout region. The Caldera was very good, but it got beaten by my Susvara which overlaps with its sound signature (and which i prefer). The VO is a different story.
EVERYTHING sounds so good and never fatiguing, no matter the genre or the volume. It's my #1 "lean back and enjoy a whisky" headphone. Still, it's very fast and highly technical but also extremely musical and lush. I had the Meze Elite for a bit and that one did disappoint, it was also very laid-back but i felt like its technicalities did not hold up to its price point in the end.
I borrowed a Verite Open from a friend for a week and knew that i wanted one. I love its sound. It's the polar opposite of an Utopia and does fit perfectly in my collection. You get engulfed in the music and just lean back and are happy. Plug it into a tube amp and you get this awesome decay of the notes and an even bigger soundstage.
It's a bit funny because i checked out a lot of ZMF's before and i didn't click with them. I almost tried every ZMF and only in the end listened to the VO, what a fantastic tuned piece of wood.
I am the guy that does think the HD6XX is overrated, so i wasn't looking for a "super HD6XX" with a focused midrange. I need both treble and bass extension. The VO does all of that spectacularly.

Great description of my favourite headphones. Also great choice with the African Blackwood. Here’s my pair. Have ‘em for almost two years now and never letting ‘em go !

yeah 1.5k EUR is was what I got my second hand VO for too, a good price for a fantastic headphone. Yours is considerably prettier though :)

The Verite goes under the radar these days and with so many releases every other week it's easy to see why. With newer models like the Caldera and Atrium variants, it became a sort of sleeper pick for most due to it's rather unconventional tuning but boy does it work. Great technicalities and a tuning like no other you scored a great deal there.
