These are all preamp tubes, correct? I have only tried dual triode 12au7 types. Can you advise what adapter is needed to try these tubes you've mentioned?

Yup. These are preamp tubes.

As you can see in the pictures, I'm now using a pair of Tung-Sol 6j5g with two adapters, one from 6j5g(t)/l63 to 6sn7 and the other from 6sn7 to 12au7.

I'll send you some adapter links below.

The tube combination I used yesterday (GEC 6080 and a pair of Tung-Sol 6j5g) is a beautiful example of a combination that makes the Veritè extremely musical for any genre. It brings a lot of warmth and emotion without losing stage and detail.

Very well resolved in the mid and high range.

And detail: For those who think that Veritè has recessed vocals, in this combination, the vocals are prominent without losing the details of the top and the warmth of the base.

Thank you- this is great information, indeed.

I think the dual driver/preamp set up looks like quite the investment, as first glance states these tubes are pricey! Do you have a favorite set up for the preamp section of the BHC?

I was thinking that if I venture away from the 12au7, it would be towards the 6sn7 with an adapter- unless of course people really feel there is a superiority to the dual preamp tube set up.

I haven't tested all the tube combinations I have with Veritè yet, but so far my favorite setup is the GEC 6080 + Fivre 6c5g.

Thank you! Quick question (and I also asked in the BHC thread as well), when using the adapter to go from 12au7 to the 8-pin 6c5g, 6sn7, etc., I believe the voltage of that tube socket needs to be 6.3 volts. This is the case on the Bottlehead Crack, correct?

I just bought this adapter:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/2009525995...13&osub=-1~1&crd=20220727191055&segname=11050

And the seller is asking me to make sure I'm operating the driver/preamp tube at 6.3 volts.

It's the same for the 6sn7. 6.3v.

Quick note on the CV4003- I have a pair of Brimar CV4003s and they are very good.

Of note though, I found the Brimar CV4033s to have even better vocals/midrange (at least in a Woo WA2). If you happen to come across a pair for under $150 or so in good condition, I highly recommend them.

Rare and good 6sn7 valves are hard to find at a reasonable price.

It might be worth looking into a pair of Fivre 6c5g.

Only you will need this adapter.

Is this a tube rolling thread or a VO thread 😉

Big thanks to @SHIMACM for the kind advice and guidance!

Back to a VO specific discussion- I do find the VO to be softer and bit more "dark" in the high end and upper mids compared to my Auteur, which have a good deal of upper register presence and "shimmer" in the highs. I did compensate with the VO by adding EQ and boosting at 8.6 kHz, which has made them very much on-par with the Auteur high frequencies, but retaining the VO's lower mids and bass extension, which is just superb. I had been hoping for an VO specific Oratory 1990 EQ profile for the RME ADI2 DAC, but haven't seen one to date.

These EQ settings were suggested to me by another member:

https://github.com/jaakkopasanen/Au...acle/ears-711_harman_over-ear_2018/ZMF Verite

For whatever reason, EQ seems to be a polarizing subject and a two-letter word that can never be spoken by some. That feature which shall not be named. I happen to appreciate it and enjoy it.

Just like most things in audio (and life in general) I find the truth lies somewhere in the middle. Therefore I EQ Audeze (currently my LCD-5, previously LCD-X) and enjoy all my ZMFs (previously Auteur and VC, waiting on my VO) the way Zach intended. I’m not opposed to EQ on ZMF headphones, I just feel any Audeze I’ve owned needs EQ to reach their full potential whereas ZMF headphones do not.

Anyone else here like the BE2 Hybrid pads for the VO? I just put them back on after living with the Universe Lambskin and BE2 Lambskin for a while, and they sound so, so smooth and punchy. Out of the Forge, these might be my endgame setup for a warm-tilting, still highly detailed sound. I'm blown away by how much these pads and tubes can tame any harshness these headphones might have.
