Does Zach ever do any other colour leather? Some aged brown leather with blackwood and brass metal grills would work wonders...kinda like my 5 year old when he's after chocolate...wonders!
Easy to fix. Get some brown leather dye and some bleach...

I'm kidding. Don't do this.

Hey guys, it's only 4 days before the Verite preorders start. Get excited!

@ProfFalkin, @Daemon Ursus, @mysticstryk, any impressions would be greatly appreciated sometime soon :)

I'm planning to do a short write up on Tuesday. Followed by a more complete review in the coming weeks.

I can give you my super short current impressions to tide you over for now, They are wonderful, Zach has made something really special with the Verite.

A couple people have been asking about the final Verite revision. I have both versions in hand now: Beta Version 0.99 and Production Version 1.0. I’m just going to run through the sonic differences quickly for those who are wondering before I send this first version back.

First off, the changes are relatively subtle, to the point where I would say most anything I’ve said about the Verite to this point holds. Basically, the Beta Version 0.99 had a couple of dips in the upper mids: on the Universe Pads the dip was between 2.6kHz and 3.2Khz; on the Veritie Pads there was that same dip plus another smaller one at 1.5kHz.

Dips are definitely less noticeable on the final production version. It seems like the Q width of the 2.6kHz - 3.2kHz dip is now narrower and shallower like 250Hz wide instead of 500Hz wide and maybe only 1/3 of the amplitude. The second dip on the Verite pad is barely noticeable at all. To my ears, it just sounds a bit more cohesive overall in the frequency response.

The pads that came on this version are also the final production pads, which have a slightly nicer .6mm leather. Compared to the final beta, there is just a little less peaky-ness in the treble. I wouldn’t have classified the final beta as peaky, but I can crank up the production version a little louder quite comfortably.

That’s pretty much it. Just a small tweak, but a solid incremental improvement going forward.
