Bombastic would be a good description. Dave's guitar has proper air and extension, and really comes alive. drums have deep driving pressure, propelling the music forward. and everything is about as clear as you can hope for given the so so recording quality. it's quite a treat. Dave's voice does get a bit hot though at high volume. it's more the recording fault than anything. but all in all it's quite fun. Rust in Peace is insane as well. though i'm furious at the remaster, i have my old CD from the 90s when it was released
Speaking only for myself and my experience with burning in the VO and VC,I noticed much less difference with the VC than I did with the VO in between hours 1-200.
All I can say is wow! The VCs continue to amaze, listening to Hendrix, ”Voodoo Chile, ” from Electric Ladyland. I've listened to this album at least a thousand times, the VC (Auteur Pads) is such an immediate experience, truly ”you are there!” From Jimi’s fingers on the frets to the conversation at the conclusion of the song, it's truly like listening to it for the first time.

As far as portable cases, the Audioquest Nightowl/Nighthawk ships with a beautiful brown leather case complete with carrying handle and loads of soft padding inside, with netting for bits and bobs.
Fits snugly where it needs to and ample space where you’d want it. Didn’t bother to disconnect the cables here as I was just testing it out but I know what I’m using if I decide to venture out with it.
Could always buy them and flog them off without the case or gift them to a friend in need
I think we need to worry about Zach. I mean, what kind of Faustian deal did he strike to come up with the Verité Closed?
I have been going through older records in my collection. Things I have listened extensively to before, but haven't heard in a while.
Old Metallica and Slayer, stoner rock, hardcore, that sort of stuff. And the VCs rock so f'n hard!
I've lost track of how many times I've just been taken aback by the VCs.
The amount of detail, slam, superb tonality and "threedeeness" puts a stupid grin on my face.
When I listen to some of my old favorite tracks it is like I haven't really heard what they sound like before, but now I do.
I just had this happen with a couple tracks last night! I heard sirens coming closer (I live in a closed of neighborhood so sirens are usually for fires or real emergencies) got worried and took my headphones off to dead silence lol never heard the faint sirens before that (at least to my recollection).
or maybe Zach is an Angel here to spread the music to all us sinners lol....I’m not religious so take that for what it is ha!
The best kind of picture....I have too many pictures of my VCs....people started complaining on the reddit headphone porn thread....well one person complained lol...but they are sooo beautiful! They are turning into my “kid” pictures....
Me: hey check out my latest pictures of my VC guys...aren’t they gorgeous
Friends: *sigh* dude...yeah they are great, we’ve seen like dozens of your pictures of them...how is your “real” kid doing?
I can definitely say that the VC is the first headphone I’ve owned that makes me a little sad to put them on, because then I can’t admire their beauty! I have to remind myself after I take them from the case to stop turning them over in the light to see the wood from different angles and start listening to music. The polish makes the cups almost luminescent. Very happy with the Desert Ironwood!
