I originally had more of the wide & circular grain in mind (like the promo photo), so when I got these I was initially uncertain how I felt about the narrower more linear grains. With time I've come to decide these are PERFECT. Wood is an organic thing, with all the uniqueness and imperfections that organic things have. I hope you come to appreciate the uniqueness of your set more. I think they are beautiful!
I remember that set! That set has exceptional tiger figuring, and in those sets the wood is harder/tighter/less pores which doesn't let the stain get quite as deep as other sets, the bonus is that the wood is super figured. Very cool.
They currently come in a Seahorse Waterproof/dust proof case. We will have a leatherette clamshell for the Bokeh soon, and then one for the full sized headphones to follow.

I obviously need a second and third job to keep up with all these new releases. I just seem to be falling further behind. I'd try selling vital organs but I'd need to heal like Prometheus just to keep up. I don't think the risk reward ratio is quite there for me to drug mule. Same for petty crime. It would need to be a really big heist to be worth it.
I’ll hopefully try a bunch of ZMF’s in Amsterdam and leave with AC or Caldera, but the fact that Zach said Caldera Closed is has favorite had me thinking again because if you can get Caldera performance + isolation = Endgame.
Honestly, that is priced well for the quality of the amp. Doing a head to head with the Bigger Ben, which retails for $5600, the Aegis was punching just fine. It is an end game tube amp.
Seriously though every time I think I'm good, a new release tempts. Originally I would have thought that Cocobolo AC would be calling the most but honestly the Queensland maple AC might have the most pull for me after watching Zach's video (also I'm pretty sure it's a more lightweight wood).
On a bass guitar, maple would be bright sound and Cocobolo is darker sound. I've always wanted a custom bass with cocobolo wood. But Queensland maple is just gorgeous, very tough choice

Zach and I spent some time building Bokeh Open at the shop yesterday. The first one is made of Spectra Ply and Zach will be bringing this to CanJam NYC. I *really* like the way this particular spectra-ply looks with the red and silverish bands.
The pair I built for myself use the same stock Limba wood as Bokeh Closed. I wanted the Gibson type finish they use on their Korina Flying V and Explorer models. I kinda dug the maroon mesh behind the grill, so I went with that. I wanted a Cocobolo grill, which is a hair too thick, so it's a bit proud of the surface. That's not how the production models will be, and I may end up sanding mine down just a bit. We're also going to use different screws, but the shipment didn't arrive in time, so we used what we had available.
And this is it in the more subdued lighting of my home office.
