Thank you both. Having fixed my favorite dac (nm24) the edge is off the top of my favorite amp ( iha-6) The ori sounds amazing and coupled w the he560 im gonna enjoy them until a good deal comes up on a focal. If i decide a mobile player is a necessary supplement. The ori is u underpowered by the geekout v2 as is the other planar. Just got the bug again for the first time in a while.

Not much happening on this thread. Sadly, the Ori is no longer being sold.

No matter--I'm sitting here with the ormosia henryi Ori on my head, and have the same silly "I can't believe how good this sounds" smile on my face that I had 5+ years ago, when I got this new from ZMF. I love the sound of this headphone. It pleases me to no end.

Of course, the bass is off-the-charts good. This is one of the 2 or 3 best headphones I've ever heard for bass. But I like everything I hear from the Ori: the mids, the treble, the soundstaging (so good for a closed back). This is one incredibly musical planar, and it never fails to satisfy.

Yes, there are higher resolution planars around, headphones that do the "plankton" better than this (I own one, the Final D8000, which is excellent in every way). But do I love that more than this? Nope.

I've had a few outstanding success stories in headphone audio...this is right up with the best.

Amen, brother. I remember when I first listened to the Ori at one of THE Shows in Newport Beach several years ago (it was called Omni back then and it was the recently released ZMF flagship) and my first reaction was that this is a very musical-sounding headphone. I still enjoy it a lot - and no other headphone that I have does bass quite like the Ori!

Well, reading this inspired me to grab mine and put them on my head.
Just as you say , as soon as music comes on you get the "I can't believe how good these sound" experience.

My other headphones are far more superior, especially in technicalities, but as you say, for a pure musical listening experience, these give you that in spades.

I can't afford to keep all of my headphones when I get a new pair, and I have sold some pretty good headphones.
The HD800 and the ZMF Atticus both got sold and I kept the Ori. It was harder to get rid of Atticus than HD800 for me.
At the end of the day when I just listened to what was on my head...these stayed.

They are as beautiful as the sound....heck all of Zach's headphones are beautiful :)

Inspired by @Pharmaboy I tried my Ori with the Cavalli Liquid Gold X last night. What a great combo! The trademark Ori bass is being enhanced by the dynamics of the Liquid Gold X. A very enjoyable listening experience.
How interesting that you would post this. We seem to be going down the same track.

I got my own LGX a couple weeks ago and just finished burning it in. I'll listen to it at some point in the next 3-4 days with various headphones, including (of course) the Ori. IMO the bass of the Ori is spectacular from the get-go,, so if an amp manages to add to bass quality (both my V281 and Lake People G109-A do that), it tells me something about the amp.

My fingers are crossed for good audio experiences upcoming...

I do exactly the same. Last week it was my Ori on either the Liquid Gold X or Liquid Carbon v2, driven by the same DAC (Audio GD DAC-19 with dual RCA outputs).

The LGX is kind of a specialist amp--it absolutely loves the Ori & D8K, but is unpredictable with dynamic driver HPs. The LC v2 loves every headphone, period.

The Ori never lets me down...

I find it endlessly fascinating how some cans find fantastic synergy with some amps!

Weird that it works that way, but it most certainly does!

Cheers!

What kind of wood is your Ori?

I just listened to mine last night on my favorite amp for planars (Monoprice Liquid Gold X). Fantastic sound, so much better than the price and Fostex origins of this headphone would indicate.

Congrats! I almost bought those myself. Came close to pulling the trigger multiple times but ended up picking up an Atticus instead here on Head-Fi. I was really tempted by the Ori though. Hope they look as good in person as they did on the EB listing.

Thanks...I was able to talk seller down a little bit. But state taxes were pretty darn high, UGH!

Hope they live up to the hype

Congrats on your Atticus! I am sure they will please, too!
