Jun 23, 2015 at 5:25 PM Post #61 of 2,544
More info on the website about the omni tomorrow.  Pre-Order will open this sunday, will post all the details in the sponsor section beforehand as well.  Many pics and info streaming through my website this week.

Will have both proto's at the Chicago Head-fi meet this weekend, and will be organizing tours to take place in august when the production units are starting to roll out.  Excited for you guys to hear these!

Yay! Can't wait. Being headphone-less is tough.

There were numerous people comparing the Omni side by side with the LCD 3's

I was one of them.

I believe I said something along the lines of the Omni sounding like a semi-open LCD-3.  Very well done Zach!

is that not to be confused with a 3f?

Correct, I have it here in my listening notes as being analogous to a pre-razor LCD-3.

The Omni countdown has started on the ZMF Headphones page.

Hah, it's also a reminder to me to get all the info posted about the Omni ASAP for everyone!  There will be an Omni page up in the next 24 hours, and I'll have the order page up at some point friday, it just won't show any stock until midnight sunday.

Is there a lead time for these pre-orders, or do you have ones already pre-stock? By the way, the dark brown finish looks beautiful.

I just posted the "Product Page" HERE which answers that question.  They will start shipping in August.  I don't have a specific date, but all the parts have been ordered and are on the way.  I will ship as fast as I can get them made.

The dark brown cups are Walnut.  It's pretty sexy stuff.

@zach915m: It looks like the earpads on the Omni are fitted onto a baffle, much like on the MDPro, AD and AP. That should make adjusting the angle of the earpads much easier, which in turn should make achieving an ideal seal easier. Excellent development!

Yeps and yeps!

I'll be posting a page on the site tomorrow outlining the thought process and developments in the design and implementation of the Omni.  So much to do and that ticking clock is freaking me out.

I actually walked out of my office so I could pull up the page on my phone. While I loved the blackwood, I'm thinking the walnut has more character.

Hey zach, what wood type do you think works bests with tubes?

I'm not sure there is a succinct answer to that, the Cherry sets are the least dark/warm in timbre and presentation alone.  While the Walnut set is a little thicker/fuller in tone.  I expect the blackwood to be in between the two, but haven't made a blackwood set yet because I wanted to wait for production because the wood is so expensive.

If you have a warmer sounding tube amp the Cherry may make sense as the airy presentation may lend it self to that.  Of more importance with tube amps is that they have enough power to run planar's well, some OTL amps can sound a little muddy.

First time checking out the ZMF phones and they look gorgeous.
Have no idea how they sound, but I see all kinds comparisons of very nice phones coming by (though I have none of those as well haha).
In a few weeks time my current headphones will be going away (to a nice new house :)) and I'm looking for a nice one which will be
my headphones for many many years and these might be the ones.
But sold out already I see on the site, Í was tempted to pre-order though at the same time I think I'm taking a big risk by not
knowing exactly how these sound.
