ZMF Ori (Omni) - Upcoming Semi Open Flagship

Thanks for the opinions guys.

How about the LCD -XC vs the omni..?

Thanks,
Jonathan

If the soundstage of the Z7 bothers you, then run away from the LCD-XC.  I love the LCD-X, and was so disappointed in the LCD-XC.  (I don't own either, just auditioned)

Ok. I will bro.
I own the LCD x but it give me the lacks of audeze dark signature.

Thus, opted to get the LCD 2 or LCD 3.
But a good friend of mine suggest to go for ZMF omni..

Am confused which to choose now.

Too far from my place to have an auditions now.

Thanks,
Jonathan

@Samut89
- if you are near E1 Earphones they have the Vibro, Blackwood and Omni in for audition and will become a ZMF dealer soon.  If you're close definitely stop by and give them a listen!

Zach, samut/gawir is a friend, but unfortunately he's on East Malaysia. I'd definitely recommend a visit to E1 to my other compatriots who actually live closer, for sure :)

Thanks so much bro.
Hoping to go to E1 but not able to do so in view of heavy working schedule.

Thanks zach for the recommendation of the cherry.

Cheers,
Jonathan

This is the Omni's appreciation thread and I own a pair and value their quality and looks (plus Zack is fabulous to deal with :) so I rather not promote other brands, to my ears though the Enigmas have no match under $2K and I've done the prerequisite A-B comparisons before stating it.

I also like my Enigmas. Would have been interesting to compare the zmf to Paradox or Paradox Slants, though- since all three of those are t50rp mods.

Hi Zach,
Wah..this is nice wood man.

But this cocobolo is not on promotion right bro.

The price is 899 right.?

It looks marvelous and gorgeous.

The cherry cannot be dip in this kind of colour texture right bro.?

Thanks,
Jonathan

Yes sorry Cocobolo is more expensive because of the wood rarity and I don't have any b stock available.

It would be impossible to match Cherry to the look of a hardwood like cocobolo, there's just no way to mirror the pore size, grain and sapwood among other things with a finishing technique.

Thanks for this. Good to see a comparo to the enigma.

If looking to compare headphones the Blackwood and Enigma are actually closer in design, @Ishcabible has some good info on both of them in his headfonics review:  http://headfonics.com/2014/12/the-zmf-x-vibro-and-zmf-blackwood/2/

Both great headphones, different sound signature than the ZMF line.

Just ran out of Bocote for the Blackwoods but more is on the way, it's a magnificent looking wood, I do have stock of Bocote for the Omni.  Here's a recent set sent out last week!

Thanks. Did not know that. Am I right to say though that the Omni and the Paradox/ Slants are worth comparing as well? Just want to make sure I understand your lineup properly- like I said, I'm new to this party. :)

I am not sure it probably depends on your taste and many other subjective factors.  It's always hard to give advice on something so subjective as headphone signature etc.  Generally it seems head fi has enough info to get a general feel for each headphone and if it will suit your needs though.  Lots of great info.  Everyone has their favorite sound and headphone for their tastes, generally the ZMF lineup consists of headphones that have a mild to medium bass boost, slightly lush mids and detailed but not frontal treble - just implemented with different timbre and presentation based on the wood used and model.

I do my best to describe my stuff here while be as unbiased as possible at zmfheadphones.com

I ofocurse tuned them to my specific preferences though!

Well, while Zach is here lately and answering questions. Can we expect that within the month of July we will see the release of the new ZMF Amp with "some" matching wood cup choices for the knobs?

Also the relative price point of being sub 1k or north of it. (Maybe discounted if bought together?
wink_face.gif
) Saving up right now for when the new woods get released to pick my favorite one.

The Slants have good space and tone and are one of the best T50 mods out there. The bass is very similar in impact to the Omni but the Omnis have more upper mids and dont sound as dark. The slants have a warmer lower midrange, similar midrange proper, but less upper mids and softer treble as well as sound Slightly less open. The Slants are pretty resolving though. I was kinda shocked when I heard the Slants that they sounded that good. Better than the Alpha Dogs by a good margin. Still for my tastes I find the Omni to make things sound more lively, even though they themselves are a natural sound.
