What stand is that? Looks really nice !
It’s a Grumpy Goose. They occasionally can be found on Etsy. Be fast when they become available as they sell limited supply very quickly.

I've had my caldera for about a week and have had 60+ hrs of burn in. I think I'm noticing changes but I want to see if anyone else is noticing changes so I know I'm not fooling myself.

For me, out of the box, the vocals sounded a bit stiff and has a slight cold edge. The dynamics didn't sound right. The best analogy I can think of is that the singer almost sound a bit shy. After burn in, I noticed the vocals became more natural sounding, smoother dynamics and the cold edge is gone.

So I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced similar changes to their caldera.
With the Atrium I noticed significant changes in the staging and sub-bass quantity but with the Caldera I haven't really noticed anything.

The striations in this oak are beautiful (and the finish is spectacular).
That verite in the background catches my eye a lot more.

Really looking forward to the closed Atrium and Caldera

I didn’t mean low powered solid state. I meant on the one hand, lower powered tubes, and on the other hand, solid state.

Low powered tube won’t work well with planars. Pretty safe assumption that OTL and planars aren’t a good match. If you get a (typically high powered) TC tube amp it will be great for planars (as will solid state amps).

Hey all... Been awhile since I've posted. Been dealing with family emergency, but been listening when I can. Tonight is a Caldera night through my Cembalo Spring 1. I have a new amp in route that I can't wait to try with the Caldera. It should be a tremendous pairing.

Impressions of the Caldera haven't changed much since I got them. Incredibly fast with an expansive midrange that enables you to hear the difference in room size and sound mixing. I continue to be amazed when I listen to the same song from 3 different live shows in 3 different size rooms and the Caldera can accurately display the vocals in the mix exactly as the room and engineer have it set up. I notice a bit of neutrality through the upper midrange and treble that makes them feel a bit flat at first, but they really aren't. They are just really linear and true to the music. In comparison to the Atrium, they are as different as the day is long. The Atrium is warmer, more sumptuous (yes another food reference), not quite as fast but oh so musical. The Caldera is a very musical headphone. At times I have to stop and just listen only to grasp how fast the drivers are reacting. Pacing is spot on. Bass thumps and strolls down the block at the perfect pace. The pocket for the Caldera isn't as big as the Atrium, but it is fully developed which gives it an aura of immediacy. Love it!

The Caldera sound sensational on my tube amp as well. The Icon Audio HP8 has plenty of juice, and really opens up the sound. It isn't as fast as the Cembalo Spring 1, but it has a softer sound. Things seem a bit more integrated with a smidge more warmth. Bass takes on a more enveloping characteristic without losing the speed. Vocals are noticeably more holographic. The space between the notes on a tube amp are just hard to beat. When my new amp arrives things will get real interesting.

So well described! Thank you for the picture your words create. I just placed an order on a Caldera. Deep dive time soon into Caldera, VO and Atrium with a DCA Expanse thrown in!

For those of you with the leather strap, is anyone using a pilot or copilot pad? I was using the copilot pad with my previous Auteur, which had the standard suede strap. I would put the copilot pad over the existing strap for extra padding.

The current strap on my caldera is too big, and the copilot pad won't fit on it. Any thoughts? I do like a bit of extra padding and snugness around my head, although I'm not having any existing comfort issues. Here's the pic of the existing strap.

This won't help solve your current problem, but I just wanted to say, I love the look of your Calderas with the Macassar Ebony! Great looking set.
