Perhaps @zach915m can answer definitively but also curious what others who have swapped mesh have heard.
I think those graphs are closer than they look, mainly they look different because of the differing X-axis on each - the ones on our site are shortened and only go up to 17 KHZ vs the lower one going past 20 khz. There's also a minor difference in the Y-Axis.

We will at some point be re-doing the measurements for the website, and I will follow suit with what I show in video's as well. Just to make it all less confusing.

Oh, sorry to go kinda OT here but could you mention some IEMs that are similiar to the Atrium? I don't like my Monarch MKIII that much anymore (too much bass) and was looking for a "ZMF IEM"

For me, that would likely be the Noble Sultan (btw, sonics aside, Noble for me is kind of the ZMF of the IEM world: family run with super nice people, beautiful craftsmanship, warm sound signature). The Sultan are tuned warm with fantastic bass, lush mids, and gently rolled of treble (that can be tuned with a revealing cable). On a purely emotional and subjective level, these give me the kind of experience in the go that my AO do at home.

Well, depend on which ZMF you refer to. In general, I think AME Raven may up to the task. Energetic, musical, solid punch, a bit remind me of Verite, but with more aggresive character. Not to mention Raven's housing use handcrafted (in Ukraine) stabilize wood.

Other option, I think Canpur CP622B should suit Caldera/Verite listeners too.

Personally, I love Melodic Artification Alter Ego as my daily IEM. Character wise, I think it's like combination of Caldera + Atrium, but with some "special sauce" from Melodic Artification.

Caldera Closed Black & White Ebony, in for review; shown side by side with the Caldera Closed Shou Sugi Ban Ash.

Can't wait to spend some time comparing them over the next couple of weeks! More to come..

Well I finally have one tiny criticism about the Caldera Closed.

It's a huge productivity killer, lol! Came home from work early to get to start on a dreaded yardwork task, telling myself I'll just sit down long enough to have some water and listen for a few minutes out of the Homage. 2 hours later have I moved? Of course not!

It's also really tempting to just come on here and gush about them all the time so I'll try to restrain myself.

Janelle Monae's The Age of Pleasure is an incredibly lush album as is, and really shows how lush this headphone can be.

Please share the weight (difference) of the two models, if you have a minute.

Yeah buddy! I have never had a headphone grab a hold of me, like the Caldera Closed does. Just like you, I can't get enough and this headphone has totally rocked my world. Lots of stuff still needs to get done around my place, but it's on the back burner for now, as all my free time is going to listening with the CC. :o2smile:

I'd be curious to see if you're hearing a difference between the woods!

I'll definitely provide the comparison. Off the bat (one day, no burn in, hearing out 1.5 ears as I have a mild covid this weekend) - as expected, the ebony harder wood has less reverb than the softer ash. It's quite notable. It may impact the choice of pads for me which may differ between them.. TBC... ;)

Oh no! I wish you swift and complete recovery, Eyal! (And thanks for the early comparison, ofc)

What @AudioDuck said - hope you feel 100% better asap!

My guess was that it'd be similar to the AC in this way. My demo European ash CC has some similarities in its tone to my walnut AC, and they're around the same janka rating. Haven't heard any other wood type on the CC though to compare, so it's good to hear your thoughts on the ebony's sound.

thanks :relaxed:

yes, that's exatly what I'm thinking. it wil be interesting as I currenlty have on hand both the CC ash (to compare CC wood variants) and the AC b&w ebony (to compare CC and AC of same wood). I'm planning to focus spending time on it week after next (this week some travel coming up) and also published a detailed review of the CC (same time or after that). I do have 3 pads to compare (only listend to 2 so far as I'm just enjoying them too much:xf_wink:) and not sure whether I'll play with the mesh or not (have all of them on hand).
