ZMF BOKEH - Closed Back (Semi-Portable)

Hey guys,

I measured every pad and mesh option, which took a while. I also noticed that you need all 4 screws for the driver cover, because otherwise you don't get much bass, as you have more baffle holes. You could potentionally tune the bass by leaving one screw out, but didn't try that.

Hybrid pads with burst mesh or even without the mesh are my favourites for balanced listening. I also like suede pads without the mesh for brighter sound. Strong treble brings some nice bite to the sound and doesn't really bother me, as there is enough bass to counter it.

Excellent resource. It looks like the meshes don't make all that much difference, but the solid mesh seems to dampen the highs ever so slightly. That may be why I prefer hybrid pads and solid mesh; that seems to be the sweet spot for me and the most "Night Owl-like".

Extremely psyched to receive my pair. Just been waiting patiently. I will take meticulous attention to detail over speed all day every day of the week.

What's the preferred way to share a Peace/APO EQ profile? I'm new to the whole process through software (not to EQ'ing itself of course). I'd love to know what people think of the results, even knowing that sources and other stuff can affect yada yada yada...

I think Zach mentioned that an open Bokeh would not happen at the earliest until summer
We're showing some units at Canjam NYC, but a production version won't be out until summer. 😭😍🌞

After a good 20 minutes swapping the pads (because I am genuinely bad that kinda thing) I can safely say these are my favourite closed back. It's a safe tuning, nothing super crazy about it that would make many put away. I can hear a bit of mid/treble dips in the 1-4k range, but I actually think its really nice. The low end thou is super nice. It has this texture and thickness I absolutely love. Closed backs usually struggle making that a good feature and this headphone absolutely wins in that region. And surprisngly, it has an openess to it to where the sound doesn't feel congested. Really glad I blinded this after the London proto.

I am happy to say I will be holding onto this for as long as I can!

If this 5 dB 300 Hz (150-600 Hz) hump is real than that seems to be a tuning which I pass. I am not a fan of such an upper bass / lower mid range emphasis.

Open-back Bokeh??? :spy:
I wonder what the amp to the left is with the zmf logo on it. Is it the Aegis otl amp? Also the open back bokeh sounds exciting, especially with the larger 56mm lcp driver. Zach described it as kind of a super bokeh!

It's a prototype of the Aegis production amp. Technically, it's an OTC, not an OTL. It adds a couple of nice features vs the DIY variant, namely more connection options (XLR, 6.35mm and 4.4mm) as well as 3 impedance settings vs the 2 on the DIY amp. As somebody that has both, I also appreciate the impedance settings on the front of the amp, which is a bit easier to work in my equipment rack.

That amp!!! ME WANT!!! I figured Zach would tweak the standard Aegis a bit, but DAM! That thing is amazing looking! Ugh I was being impatient enough with just the thought of the Aegis, now I'm back to 5 years old on Xmas eve about to explode with anticipation of new toys.

If it is, the BO is moving away from oval cups? Pad swappers will be pleased...
Still looks like oval cups to me. Am digging the grill pattern
