ZMF Auteur Thread

I posted this in the main ZMF thread, but I have the chance to pick up a used Auteur OG at a good price. I love the sound of the HD6xx paired with the my Bifrost 2/64 and Feliks Elise mkii. How does the Auteur OG compare to the HD6xx? Thanks in advance.

Like a natural evolution IMO. The Auteur (AT going forward) has that similar slightly warm but still fairly neutral and natural tone, with added treble presence and air up top, and better overall technical prowess. It's bass reaches lower as well. I'm a huge HD650/6xx fan and the AT is now my overall favorite headphone. That's a nice setup for the AT. The AT and 6xx seem to synergize with the same equipment, meaning if one sounds good on the chain, the other well as well, and vice versa.

Thank you so much for the response.I really appreciate it. Sadly, the seller didn't honor my request to wait for 24 hours and sold the Auteur to another person for a $100 less than what I was willing to pay. Maybe I should just purchase one brand new, but the wait time seems so long.

Sorry to hear that, that's not cool. CanJam SoCal is coming up in a few months, Zach always brings amazing sets with him. I got my Auteur Classic Mango there last year. It's cool because you get to see what you're getting, no surprises or waits (other than waiting for canjam!). Plus you get to meet the awesome ZMF team! Win-win Another option is put a wanted ad in the classifieds. I bet you'll get some hits.

Thanks for the info! I appreciate that. I will likely miss it cause the plan is to be at New York City for my birthday. But if that doesn't matriculate, then I will find my way there. Also, the way I see it is it wasn't meant to be. Life goes on and something else waits for me.
