I’ll add to that by noting the importance of a good fit/seal and the right amping (and even tube choice, in some amps).

I love my AC with a passion, but I gained much more respect for my VC after I replaced the steel portion of the headband and got the clamping force needed/proper seal.

With the Telefunken driver (input? 🤔) tubes I use in my Woo OTL amp, the VC slaps and slams! (It sounds great with other driver tubes too, but the G-73Rs add a lot to the bass depth and impact.

I'm about to do this (steel band replacement) on my AO. Which video did you follow to get it right?

I used the one below, and with the right hex key it’s a cinch. Though I managed to get the ZMF logo on the “wrong” side, but I don’t care that much as I only have three headphones and no trouble identifying my VC… 😝

Any AC users running BE2 solid lamb pads on theirs? I am seriously torn on which I prefer, the stock Caldera lamb pads or the BE2 solid lambs. The Caldera pads give a bit more bass emphasis, but man the BE2 to my ears is just plain fun! It takes away just a hint of bass, but adds more air in the mids/treble, which I'm really liking. It's not as airy as the Caldera suede pads, but not too far off, and with more bass than those. It's a nice middle ground. With the Caldera lamb pads sometimes vocals are a bit too far back for my liking, but not so with the BE2. But then I miss that bit of bass lost... First world problems huh? Either way, the AC is so engaging. For all the Aegis/AC owners, how is the synergy? If anyone is lucky enough to have that and also a DNA Stratus, how do those two compare?

Caldera Closed is on the must buy list for me.

I was going to hold off on the AO till the next ZMF November, but the Cocobolo is really striking.
I'm still waiting for the custom order Programm.

At some point I might want an AO, AC, CO, and CC all from the same wood.

Were all pretty jazzed about the Caldera Closed. A lot of effort went into it and we’re hoping everybody else digs it, too.

Today I finally got what people are talking about when they say this headphone stages outside the cups
Don't get me wrong the soundstage is great but I mostly listen to hardcore, indie, and indie-pop/ect so soundstage really isn't a main focus in that music.

Well let me tell you what. Today I was listening to Faye Webster's Car Therapy Sessions. She takes a few of her song and does them with an orchestra. There was a harp in one of the songs on the right side and this thing sounded like it was 2 feet outside the cup. I legit listened played that part a few times and was amazed. I've owned these headphones coming up on a year and they STILL surprise me.

I am sometimes not sure if the sound is coming from my speakers or my headphones.. the staging is that good
