Listening to Foo Fighters. The bass is more realistic loudspeaker like bass. It’s gargantuan! It doesn’t kick as much as th900. But some of the th900 kick is artificial. More realistic broad large loudspeaker bass. I love it! Mids are solid performers. Weak area is treble, but no annoying spike heard even when I EQ in more treble. I was right about thinking I’d use the 15k switch for treble center. Not 20 k like with hekse. SO FAR SO GOOD!😊🎶🎧

I am a self professed bass and treble sl*t with studio rock albums. Like to bring forward bass instruments and cymbals in relation to guitar and vocals for this genre. The AC EQ’s well.

So while I wouldn’t call it spikey, the treble is a smidge rough on day 3. How does the treble change with further burn in?

It becomes smoother over time. It can be a little edgy at first.

I found the AC does take a while too settle properly. Improved a lot after 50hrs of use and seemed to stop or only change a little after approx 150.

The most prominent feature to me is with sibilance after unboxing, but after around 100 hrs of use it is almost non-existent.

Everything was just right afterwards.

Also, consider also trying the Caldera suede pads.

I did and for overall bass impact and balanced sig if I boost treble slightly I prefer the lambs. The dynamics are a bit more immediate and intimate with the lambs as well.

Honestly using thin lambs with good clamping pressure and seal and then adding some high end air (modest, not crazy) is the cat’s meow for most records. Huge rich spacious detailed wall of sound that excels. The balanced pro analog EQ is highly musical with full note saturation and doesn’t take anything away lower down in the sig. Air to die for. Great stuff!

So can anyone tell me if there is a sonic upgrade that’s significant with this cable vs ZMF OFC?

headphone progression: Initial disappointment > burn-in magic, cable swaps, pad swaps, different amp, fixes everything > for sale.
This is why I say the AC are special. I have yet to go through any of that like I have done with past headphones. It is coming up on a year now and I still love putting on the AC and listening to a few records. You have to find the one that breaks the chain haha. Thats when you know.

As others have echoed the burn in is real on these headphones.
