Actually it was probably the Bokeh thread where I read that, makes more sense
Yea, a Redwood Bokeh would probably be super light.

Mine is 435g with Mg black rods which are the lightest, all seude, no B strap. It's so light I feel like I have to hold it more delicately.
Ah, yes suede and no B.B.B. strap would cut even more weight. Nice.

I forgot my rods are Gunmetal, so that adds a little weight.

Redwood magnesium AC with copper rods here 460g

A friend got Camphor Burl it was even lighter - 430g

My stabilised AO with gunmetal and magnesium is whooping 641g though, the difference is huge tbh

That's quite interesting. As far as I know, gunmetal is mostly consist of copper material, so the weight may similar to copper (copper is heavier than either stainless steel and aluminium). Redwood is truly lightweight!

You got such wonderful sets, congrats!! ❤️

My two favorite woods of all my headphones. Love these variants (can't resists reposting an older picutre I've posted here or elsewhere a few months ago):

Sorry for the necro-reply but I don't think I see anywhere in thread: what are those stands?! I'm sure I'll go slightly distant-stare if I see the price on them, but wow those are stunning.

Although I still haven't reached the point of swapping off the stock pads to try the suedes (I really should!) I did get a suede headband strap for Xmas and have installed it to replace the cowhide strap. I love the comfort of the suede strap; just so soft.

How does the Atrium Closed pair with the Schiit Jotunheim 2?
Jot2 is a great amp that I've used for a long time without many complaints. It's a bit on the dark/warmer side, but not overwhelmingly so. I just switched to it to test it right now, from the MJ3 and ZMF Homage that I rotate as my daily drivers. It certainly does feel a tad darker on my Olive AC than what I'm used to; otherwise, it sounds pretty good still.

I hear the sound stage as being a couple notches narrower than the Homage or MJ3. Bass isn't as authoritative as MJ3, and dynamics are a few notches lower to my ears. I've said this elsewhere, but it's been my experience that the MJ3 gives acoustic instruments a lot of texture that my other amps don't. However, the darker tone of the Jot2 seems to help tame the peaks of brighter headphones a bit – moving up from the Jot2, I've had to EQ the 6-9k region by -2 to -3dB (depending on headphone) to not hurt my ears on the MJ3/Homage (both of which seem to have a more neutral tone).

Volume-matched, both the MJ3 and Homage do slightly better on almost all metrics than the Jot2 to my ears, but whether that's worth the 3x cost difference to you is subjective. I have a XLR switcher in my chain to easily switch to all 3 amps, and I can even tell the amps apart blind testing because they're so different; however, I'd honestly be perfectly happy with any of these 3 for normal listening because even the Jot2 is pretty great. But in the end, the goosebumps and smile that the MJ3 evoke when I can actually "feel" a highly detailed/textured track with harps and hammered dulcimers... I, for one, feel the upgrade to it was worth it.

Wow. Stunning. Bookmarked for when they come back in stock, thanks!

Prepare yourself to be ready at the exact moment they come on sale, they go out in seconds. Managed to get one last year and it wasn’t easy.
