I just got zl and tried to connect to 0404 using optical out. i'm not sure whether i have done correctly. I noticed the locked led is not on in patchmix, does it matter?

In another words, what's your best configuration you guys have to make full use of zl.

My setup is 0404->optical out-> zl -> m3 -> 701.Using foobar2k.

Thanx

Im interested as well. I have a new M3 right here sitting by me that I want to try out with the Zhalou. What will be the MAX BEST Zhalou 2.x available? With what kind of uprgrades?

I received my Zhalou v2.0 on Friday. I chose the CS4398 option. The op-amps for the RCA output had been switched to the LT1057/DY2000 combination. The op-amps on the headphone board (already disconnected, I don't own headphones - sorry) are 2604's. Eddie also shipped the 2604 op-amps that he swapped out, and a pair of inexpensive digital cables (one coax, one toslink).

For anyone else in Canada, shipping took 5 days and I paid $30 in taxes/customs fees.

Are you kidding? You know the DAC is FOTM when you arehoping for the headamp to be better than a M^3

I checked the voltage for the op-amps and it is currently set to +/- 15.5V on my unit. It does appear to be adjustable via a pair of pots, but I have not checked the available range yet. The current voltage setting would lead to a failure in the AD8620 part, which supports a maximum of +/- 13V. Just a heads up for anyone planning to try this part.

At least it sounds better to me..yes I even swapped my AD8620 out for some lowly OPA2604...just to make sure opamp is not playing any tricks on me

So then it would be better to use the M3 over the included headamp on the zhaolu or am I missing something? How did that start anyway about the zhaolu being better than a M3 as far as headamps go?

Well, that is something to be expected, isn't it? What I think is going to be worthy of comparisons with standalone amps is the upgraded discrete headamp.
