Jul 21, 2022 at 12:51 PM Post #107 of 127
finally u-556 delivered, it's my first experience of deep insertion iem. my right ear is okay but I feel I lil discomfort on my left. ear, I have to wiggle A bit to make it seal. I pair it with Sony zx300, @ volume 70 of 120.
u-556 scales better on my Kaei hp-100 dac amp. not bad for single BA

Do you have access to Ety double flange tips? I finally got some recently and they are quite soft, much softer than the old Ety triple flanges and comparable to the old Klipsch ovals I used to use.

How is the 556s for electronic music then? Just noticed now the Infected Mushroom cover.
Can decide which is more me the 554 or 556s.
I don't think

556 is definitely not ideal for bass heavy genre such as edm/idm/electronic, it has some sub bass but neutral mid bass, life like mids, extended, textured and forward high frequency. I have a few iems/earbuds on my collections, 556 is the best for guitar distortion, suitable genre would be metal, pop, jazz, classic orchestra

according to provided FR Graph, I think 554 is even more extended on high frequency/brighter than 556

I suggest you pair it with powerful source, 200 mw is minimum I think

Have now had the U-556 a few weeks and I really really like them. They do like a little power, but did okay even on the utws3 for a reason business trip.

Happy to hear they worked out for you! Enjoy :). Super portable too.

Foolish question maybe, but what are the filters used in the U556 and where to buy spares?
Looks to be standard Knowles 1500 ohms green filter (2.08mm diameter). They can be found on AliExpress.

Received my 556 a few days ago.

Is that a pair of the Yu9 er4b's too? I'm curious to hear your thoughts on them. You have experience with the original Ety er4b, no?

I have listened to ER4B before, but that's not ER4B. It is a 4S as 4B tends to sound a little too bright for my taste. As for this 4S, I'll say it is right on the money.
