Your 5 newest CDs (or LPs)

Just got a pile of CDs... Here's the new stuff:

1. Janelle Monae - 'The Archandroid'.  Very talented artist. Funky and always interesting. Like a Big Boi concept album, I suppose. Highly recommended.

2. Nikki Yanofsky - 'Nikki'. I couldn't quite bring myself to enjoy her music previously... A 12-year old singing jazz standards just didn't sit right with me. But... now a little older and the talent is undeniable. This girl is going to take over the world.
(Also picked up tickets to her concert for Vancouver Jazz Fest today!)

3. Renee Fleming - 'Dark Hope'.  I love her opera.  It turns out that America's favourite soprano is a pretty darn good alto too!  I was not a fan of her last pop album, but this is really very good. Apparently, if she stays in the low register she can refrain from sounding operatic.

And the not so new stuff:

4. Lisa Gerrard - 'Best of'.  You've heard her on the Gladiator soundtrack and countless others.  Absolutely unbelievably awesome vocalist. Also vocalist for Dead Can Dance.

5. Hans Zimmer & Lisa Gerrard - 'Gladiator Soundtrack'.  As above. Does what it says on the tin.
