Dan G.: Unbelievable -- our grocery lists are growing so similar we should try swapping orders. If I hadn't bought your Penderecki and Lutoslawski before, I'd be buying them now -- I love the Matrix series, though for some reason, I'm partial to the Polskie Nagrania CDs (which are suitably gray and Polish). And I just received the Tenant today -- it's sitting on my bed. Maybe now I can jettison the two VHS copies I'd recorded several years before. If only Polanski and Roland Topor had collaborated more often!

LOL, great minds think alike, right?

I had all those items on my wish list for a while and found myself craving something new and modern. I also had a hankering for some more Polanski, as I haven't seen anything of his (The Ninth Gate, while good fun, barely counts) since I saw his version of Macbeth (ridiculous genius). At $9.99 with good reviews of video quality, I figured it was worth it.

I'm unfamiliar with Penderecki and Lutoslawski, but the brief clips piqued my interest enough to whip out the plastic. Actually, Amazon stored my number, so...

I've been listening to more Webern recently as well as Bartok and Shostakovich and it seems that the avant-garde just makes me happy.

Soul Eyes by Vanessa Rubin -- got a cheap copy just in time for her concert in September. Nice blues singer, very easy to the ears.

Master Session vol II by "Cachao" (Israel Lopez) -- energetic Cuban vibes, the jam sessions are just incredible. When it comes to Cuban music, don't restrict yourselves to the Buena Vista Social Club
