Good thread! I've been poking at hi-rez digital a bit lately and these have been in heavy rotation:
Waltz for Debby, Bill Evans Trio
Violator, Depeche Mode
Thriller, Michael Jackson
All of these are on SACD and have been delivering multiple eargasms courtesy of the HD-800. There are many others, too. The DSoTM SACD is pretty awesome, as well. I've also come pretty damn close to ordering a DVD-A player the past few days. I'll probably pull the trigger this weekend. I've been picking up a few DVD-A and DualDisc recordings lately and want to hear them.
I'll rotate back into the black discs sooner or later, but have been on a hi-rez digital buying spree. A lot of SACDs and DVD-As are out of production or are running low in stock. I want to pick up as many as possible now before they disappear and eBay bidding becomes fierce.
Not many of them go back into production, much unlike vinyl. If there's a great, rare vinyl pressing, odds are that they'll run some more off. You might not have an über-rare first pressing, but later releases usually sound terrific, and that's what I care about most.
