I'm just beginning to get into audio.

I used to think like you, but then I just decided, I like my music. Audio equipments can be used years down the road, it's not just a one time thing. You get to hear a lot of "state-of-the-art" sound qualities with just a fraction of the price you'd pay for a home stero system. Each headphone can be considered an engineering and design masterpiece (except the cheapo). It's like people buying a Rolex or any piece of jewelry. Ultimately, satisfaction is timeless and priceless!

I don't... think so. With $500 you can buy a decent can + amp.

$500 can bring you a great sounding headphone/amplifier combination.
I paid less than $500 for my Stax Lambda Pro/SRM-1mk2 system, and it keep up very well against more expensive systems.

Sure, some of us have spent a lot more than you on headphone related equipment. But most people around here actually have spent the same or less than you...

Apparently the baby-boomers are in charge now... looks like we're a-okay.

Kids these days have a lot more respect for authority, drink less, have less sex, take less drugs than kids before. I say we'll be aite.
