Not really. You say thanks and sell them to your friends when they are not looking.

When you look into buying a 160gb hard drive that will fit in your 5th gen, 30gb iPod Video rather than buying a new 160gb iPod Classic, simply because you can't bear to give up the Wolfson DAC

Makes sense. Wolfson makes some really nice stuff.

The latest Skullcandy stuff is actually quite nice.

Yep. The Aviators and the Mix Master to name two.

I though the Aviators were quite poor for what they are. $150 headphones with lots of bass roll off, ugly midrange, and sub par fit/comfort. Comparing them to the Sennheiser HD428 at B-Buy with my Cowon S9, and I can say that the Senns are better in every way for me.

Personally, I know I'm an audiophile when I take the time to grab my own headphones and turn the terrible EQ off when someone wants me to listen to a song on their iPod.

Really ? Are you sure the Aviator you auditioned isn't broken ? I didn't hear much bass roll off on the Aviators. I actually heard similar levels of bass extension on the HD518 and HD25SP.

You know you are an audiophile when you spend all your holidays learning stuff about audio, instead of getting a job or playing games like everyone else

Seconded that. I'm actually quite tempted to look at the Aviators further now.

They're nice cans. Smooth, warm, with a good sense of spacial separation.

You know you're an audiophile when you hate bass.

You know you're an audiophile when you love good bass.

You know you're an audiophile when you think all rap music sucks (even though it's not true).

You know you're an audiophile when you spent $5000 on a new rig just to hear the "micro-details" of Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon

You know you're an audiophile when you can ignore everything above and just appreciate good sounding headphones and the endless pursuit of refined audio (tweaked to your tastes of course)
