Hi,
My unit worked perfectly for about two weeks, but after some time (lying in a backpack during the commutes) it stopped working correctly. The amp section doesn't work for about an hour after turning the device on -- just no sound. Then it works normally until a significant break of not using the device. The DAC section works, because there is sound on linear output. Changing the opamp doesn't help. I suspect capacitors, but they look okay. What could be the problem?

Finally solved an Issue with my XDuoo XD-05 turning off suddenly when volume was increased to just a moderate level from both my android Note 8 via an OTG cable or my ipod classic Gen 7 via a Fiio L11 adapter. I was using level 1 gain and with or without bass boost made no difference. Not sure if the issue was unique for my unit or it's ubiquitous across the entire product range. I suspect the problem arose from the unit's ability to detect headphone impedance level.
The solution I found was to turn the XD-05 on first with no headphones plugged in initially, wait to hear the click before plugging the headphones in last. Some androids may need to be restarted first after connecting the XDuoo to enable syncing.
All my cans had the same issue with the exception of my Sony MDR 7506s getting slightly louder than the others before cutting out. Even my friend's horribly inefficient t50rp mk3 planars were not exempt from the unit abruptly entering protect mode.
Now my Fostex Th-X00s can truly rock out! It was surprising how easily the unit could drive even the planars and still have plenty of juice to spare.
I'm a long time viewer and first time poster here and wanted to share my experience for anyone having the same issue.

If you start playing before the click then you may not get sound until you restart XD-05
It happened to me many times while playing with opamps initially then later I realied that the relay has to click before I can play anything properly.
What you do is just wait for the relay click. It mostly takes less than 10 sec except for V5i-D which takes more than that.
If it takes a lot longer, just restart XD-05.
With or without headphones shouldn't make difference here, I personally have tried both these scenarios many times, no correlation found
Anyone can give a link where to order the OPA2209? Cause Ive been looking in the net and the ones showing does not seem to be compatible.

OPA1692
OPA1692 (VSSOP-8) vs LM4562 (SOIC-8), size comparison
Pre ordered this thing more than 2 months ago IIRC, came in today, from element14
Now the surprise, or rather something I forgot about this was that it is a VSSOP-8 package not a SOIC-8 package. Fortunately the adapter boards I had support both packages.
TL; DR
Yes, this one stays in my XD-05. It has dethroned OPA2209
First thing I noticed: Such a clean and speedy attack and an insanely dark and silent background.
In fact the background is so dark and silent it confused me into believing that OPA2209 is more detailed. But it turns out OPA2209 has a brighter/noisiser background compared to OPA1692.
Just imagine, the opamp I was raving about is now just a piece of trash. (Not really, still a pretty amazing opamp). Everything will be a comparison to OPA2209
Detail resolution is indeed much better, bass depth and treble extension is better.
The highs are the cleanest and most detailed I've heard.
Texture is available without any graininess.
The layering is amazing, it can present different layers to something where even OPA2209 would struggle.
Soundstage as such is more precise and engaging.
Now I'll be waiting to check out OPA2189/OPA189.
All opamp rollers, I highly recommend this opamp. Check out if someone is selling premounted on eBay. Otherwise get your hands dirty, it's well worth it.
Please, don't even mention LME49720, it's not even in the same league.
As far as specs are concerned, OPA2209, OPA2189 & OPA1692 are the 3 best followed by OPA2192
And based on my listening, yes specs do mean better sound. Especially small signal and large signal response for G = +1, CMRR & Open Loop gain, Phase response (flat phase in audio spectrum is better).
I highly recommend this opamp.
Hopefully I receive my BUrson Play replacement soon so that I can try this thing in Play. The higher detail resolution and transparency of ES9018K2M would be the real test for this opamp Even in Play, OPA2209 is my favorite (Only played with I/V stage)

Having tested some other amps recently, I have a strong newfound respect for what the XD-05 does, and just how neutral and detailed and non-fatiguing it actually is, in the grand scheme of things. Didn't realize how good I had it.

I apologize if you mentioned it before, but where did you get the adapter boards from? I'd like to try the 1692 and see how it stacks up against the Burson.
As everyone else has said, this really is a great piece of gear once you make some minor changes.

I recently aquired an xDuoo XD-05 and it came with a Burson V5i opamp which I found to be excellent sounding.
So I am now wondering how it stack up to those opamps.

I started rolling multiple opamps and still find that the burson v5i is the most musical compared to OPA1692 or the OPA2209.
OPA1692 is indeed detailed but for my Beyerdynamics T1 the sub bass is uncontrolled and the treble is a tiny bit sibilant.
The OPA 2209 sound is a bit more detailed than the burson v5i but it lacks the mid bass of the burson.
I wish that with the burson v5i I could use the bass boost for the high gain on the Xduoo. It only works if low gain or mid gain is activated, as soon as i put it in high gain, "PROTECT" mode is triggered.
I will put burson v5i on Ebay for sale , maybe some one else has more luck with it. Maybe it is just my Xduoo that does this. If you are in Canada or the US and want to buy the burson v5i send me a PM and maybe you can get a better deal than buying it from burson and not wait for 2 weeks.
