So 8h of battery life is enough !!!!

Give it a rest already guys,  I put 4 to 5 hours of use on my DAP every day traveling around visiting clients in Toronto.  I don't want to have to charge my DAP every day or risk running out of power during the day. So I choose to sacrifice power for battery life because I use relatively efficient headphones.   I don't need the 250 mW of power the X3 provides so I can go with a lower powered option that gives me the battery life I want.

If 8 hours of battery life meets your needs then good on yah mate.  But I prefer to have more battery life so I choose an option that gives me more.  Maybe you guys are so hung up on 8 hours being enough battery life because you have come to realize it isn't and you are lashing out at me to make yourselves feel better.  See a shrink already and leave me alone!

Everyone is entitled to an opinion even it isn't yours.

Enjoy your X3,  I hope it gives you years of pleasure.  DAP's aren't one size fits all, that is why there are so many to choose from.

If the X3 was a cheap $40 item then no a warranty would not be important.  But given that it would cost me about $180.00 to get an X3 delivered to me in Canada then yeah a warranty would be nice.

Fwiw, a while back there was a $20 coupon at TOMTOP, and I got my X3 shipped for $89US. Well, I'm still waiting to get it, but that's another story (some other folks who took advantage of the deal did manage to get theirs). My point is that you can get it for considerably less than $180.

I too agree on the need of a longer battery, I travel once 10 hours long on a train, atleast twice a month, and its annoying. I give rest at the train changes. But still my overall journey is 10 hours plus, and this is the only time I need a DAP, (at home I only listen to a CD player/DAC on speakers) So, everyones needs are different. If that was not the situation, I wouldnt have 'cried over' earlier for the battery issue! Today, I was having one of those days, and I had to charge mine, in between for almost 1 hour in between. (My phone didn't had proper signal there, or else I would have replied this earlier! , with more 'hate' . Now comes the warranty part. For a battery which is not consistent, I dont know how to claim the warranty.

Honestly,  I would contact the manufacturer and say you claim I should get x number of hours from this DAP on a full charge.  Instead I am getting only y number of hours with normal use.  If your DAP is under warranty then they should be willing to at least test it to see if your claims are valid.  It costs them very little to change a battery but it could cost them more down the road in future purchases from you.  If they are not willing to take a look at your DAP and verify the issue then source a new battery and replace it yourself.  Next time you want to upgrade your DAP then buy another brand.

Wayne appreciate the information.

So $89 US with the exchange rate is what about $116.00 or so Canadian plus import duties takes it to maybe $140.00 delivered.  That is a good deal, not debating that but $140.00 is still $140.00 out of pocket if the unit craps out.  I sold enough electronics to know that if a product lasts the first year then it should last for several more.  But I have seen alot of gear die within the first three months.   I am sure that if I didn't have all my retail experience I wouldn't be so anal about warranties but I can't unring that bell!

The thing is the warranty is just one of the reasons holding me back from the X3,  battery life, incomplete features, lack of support from Xduoo are also holding me back.   I have something that works for me in the short term so I can afford to wait to see what else comes out between now and December.

  For sure.
Good luck for your quest for the Grail, tell us when you find it...

You will the first to know, actually I will be the first but you can be the second :)

There could be some interesting stuff coming down the pipe from Fiio and I will give the X3+plus a serious look when it comes out.

Did these work out or not?

Anyone else source a suitable replacement battery?

Unfortunately the seller shipped the 2 batteries without the 2 pin clip and i cannot use them.
I need to find myself some time and find a couple of these clips to actually test the batteries

Thanks for the update.  Still wonder if anyone else has had any success.

What keeps me very happy is my Samsung S5 + UAPP app + ZuperDAC ($75). Stellar SQ. And Tidal streaming as well. I use that combo 90% of the time when on the go.

Note: I'm waiting on a smaller OTG cable.

I really only need a DAP for the rest of the time, and the X3 would have fit the bill very nicely (had it arrived).

I had a Xeulin 770 before for my 10% DAP duties, but I lost it. Which was a drag because that sucker sounded very good. But it wasn't perfect for me, so I was kind of excited to get the X3. Now, until my X3 shows up (wishful thinking), I'm using the Kogan player (amazingly good for a $30 player!) and the Colorfly C3 (also pretty good). I'm surviving, but they aren't perfect for me either, so I want my damned X3 to show up!

What are you guys looking for exactly!

I have some sources in the electronic parts industry and I might be able to help if you can give me a part number.  Can you post a picture of what you are looking for?

Yeah, I'll have to try that. I was using beach volleyball, but I tore my calf muscle and am now hobbling around. So much for stress reduction! Yoga here I come..

What is wrong with the Xuelin when you say it wan't perfect for you?

The biggest thing for me was lack of buttons (touch screen). I use my dap when falling asleep. The 770 has a sleep timer and auto-resume which is great, and often in the middle of the night I want to resume it and get the trance going again to lull me back to sleep. But with the 770 there is no way I can get play resumed without staring at the screen and waking myself up. I presume that with the X3 and all of it's buttons, getting play resumed again could be done by braille.

Other things about the x770 that weren't great: compressed flac files didn't play well (although that might be fixed now?), no gapless playback, no playlist support etc. But it has since been rockboxed, and those aren't issues with the rockboxed x770.

That thing sounded great though! I understand that the X3 is pretty close in SQ.

There is no part number for the X3 battery.  Just some dimensions and specs:

The battery is 613773 [3.7v 2000mAh 7.4Wh? lithium-polymer LiPO(PLIB)] with a two pin connector.

(The earlier 1500mAh battery was rated at 7.4Wh.... not sure what the Wh rating is for the later 2000mAh battery.)

6.1mm height
37mm width
73mm length
