XDuoo X3 DSD 24Bit / 192KHz CS4398 Chip Lossless Music Player

Guys, I was charging my X3 on RB, I accidentally long press the power button of the X3, then after a while, the USB icon from the X3 disappeared. I unplugged the X3 from my wall socket. I then started the X3 in RB mode and it showed "scanning files" . I then proceeded to replugged the X3 into my power socket and now the USB ICON is on while charging.

Is this normal?

I have read the clip menu and it mentions

So can I safely assume that I "turned-off" my player WHILE charging?
*note, I turned off my X3 before charging. If I can turn off my player while charging, does this mean that RB is in a state of "power on" when charging?

@XVortex can you kindly explain?
Thank-you

My X3 was never "bricked" to begin with. I am just worried that the action of:

Long pressing the "Power" button of the X3 while CHARGING in RB mode with a wall wart will somehow damage the X3.

This is because while charging the X3 in RB mode, the screen of the X3 will display a USB icon and the battery icon will be animated, showing that the device is charging.

However, if you long press the "Power" button of the X3, the USB Icon, and charging animation will be gone, basically like turning off the X3 and it will not be charged.

If, you do not press the "Power" button while charging in RB mode, the USB Icon and charging animation will not be gone and the screen will stay on (presumably until the X3 is fully charged)

@XVortex can you kindly clarify?

Thank-you

Just got confirmation from Vortex that if anyone experience my situation, it is all cool!
The x3 will charge even with RB mode off. But will be significantly slower.

Cheers

Good deal.  Glad XVortex was responsive and able to put your fears to rest!  (^-^)b

I got my Xduoo X3 for $100 and no complaints. I love the heck out of it. Having one 128gb and one 200gb card in one device is the greatest. The form factor is much better feeling and more comfortable than the images let on, too. It's very solidly built and sturdy.

No need for USB DAC output here or I would have a different player. This would be the greatest giant slayer if USB DAC support got hacked in though. Wouldn't be any more reason to use Android devices for cheap solutions.

How did it pair with your Cayin C5 amp?  Sound quality?  Any pictures showing the two mated?

Its a feckin hobby lolz . I bought a silly load of daps in the last couple of years. Totally unnecessary. According to the wife

I guess she probably has more pairs of shoes than you have daps. Are all those shoes necessary?

I
Thanks. I guess I'm most concerned first with the intangible build quality stuff, and second with the firmware issue where Fiio seems relatively ahead of the game (I've used rockbox before and it's ok but not a joy to use). I've got a chance to buy a used Fiio 3 vs. Xduoo x3 for roughly the same cost.
I think I gave the wrong alarm. In my opinion, there is very little advantage that the fiio has over xduoo. Xduoo almost is superior in everything except the lack of a color screen. I used the fiio x3 for years that, and xduoo since December 2015. I didn't miss anything from fiio. If build is your concern, fiio x3 gen 1 has nothing special. Despite the good looks in pictures I always hated the stupid buttons which is really placed awkward that after years of use there are many instances where I pressed the wrong button fiio x3's ergonomics is hard to digest. There is a small groove in between similar functioning buttons, but the moment u put of the cover u can't figure out. Moreover, the player is slower with large number of files. I put the memory card in to the xduoo, and it was considerably smoother as it lacks a color screen which needs more processing. Sonically imaging on fiio was too vague that I can feel the vocalist is in the middle, but he is spread on an area in the middle. Xduoo has more precison. Also, though the button layout looks weird, to me it has enough spacing and shaped buttons for easy use without taking it out of the pocket. i never had any software issues from the day 1. I won't recommend fiio x3 gen 1 to anyone now, as at this moment, it's a player which has nothing special. Competitors have grown enough. And moreover, if the fiio is old more than 3 years, make sure the battery is healthy. Mine used to last only around 6 hours.

I can get a picture together when I'm back at work today, because I left the C5 there.

I think the pairing is very nice. The C5 is much larger than the X3, and to be honest there isn't a massive jump in sound quality.

I only use IEMs and earbuds, so anyone who uses full size headphones will have much more of a noticable jump in quality as the C5 is a power monster and can power some seriously power hungry headphones. The C5 i easily recommend to full size headphone users.

With IEMs or earbuds,  I notice the sound quality isn't drastically improved but there is a massive improvement on soundstage and detail retrieval.

For the record, I've also used the C5 with a Headstage Arrow 5TX and a G1217 Project Starlight so far. I like it most through the Starlight no question, but for a portable option the C5 is really dang good.

Hey guys, just got a message from HCK Store on Aliexpress. They will sell the Xduoo X3 to Head Fi members for $88. Seems like a good deal.

Do you have anymore details?  Do we need to contact them for the discounted price before ordering?  Will they verify that someone is a member or will they just take someone's word for it?  Thanks.

They should take your word for it.  I believe you just add the desired item to your cart (but don't buy), then contact them via Aliexpress messaging and state your Head Fi name and the price you saw the item for on here.  They will in turn reduce the price of the item while it is still in your cart.  Then you can buy at the reduced price.  This is how it has worked for me in the past under similar circumstances.

Thanks.  That's exactly what I did.  I just contacted them via chat to ask them about the discount.  Then, they had me place the order without paying.  Once the pay options screen came up, I gave customer service the order number and they then sent me an e-mail with a link for the price adjustment.

Ok,, a little different but it works.  Really thinking about getting one of these.  Anyone have experience with the X3 and rooted Android phones with Viper4android?  Is the X3 better for SQ?

I have a note 4 and an xduoo x3.
The sq is not comparable.

I also just bought another x3 with this great offer.
Did i cover you ?

Was your Note rooted with V4A? Makes a BIG difference.
