XDuoo X3 DSD 24Bit / 192KHz CS4398 Chip Lossless Music Player

Frequency-setting change from 44,1 to 48 seems to change sound a bit. What to select when I mostly play 24bit 96 or 192 tracks?
Just by listening I can't decide which sound is most near the intended /original source audio.

Doesn't really matter, the difference between 44 and 48 will be negligible.  I designed the resampler for high power efficiency at reasonably high quality, but if you're starting with such a high source frequency, alias rejection and frequency roll off should both be more than good enough anyway.

Appreciate the sanity check here.  I also want to say thanks for what I assume is your participation in the Rockbox development/refinement and with the X3 port.  Those besides XVortex have remained unidentified in the background

Yeah LO refers to Line Out in those posts but I can understand how LO/HO (line out / headphone out) could be confusing.

Thank Bob A. The gain issue is cited in posts #2578 and #2567. I thought they were referring to gain and fire some reason I thought the player w rockbox was defaulting to LO gain.

yup, it's working great... I'm listening now with my recently received LZ-Z03A's with indeed quite spikey highs.... I hope they fade a bit after burning in.

i'm trying same combo. lz-z03a still keeps those spikey highs after 400 hours burn in. thanks to xvortex i can use the parametric equalizer of roxkbox now, to cut the peak at 6KHz aprox.

just as I already expected actually. I think technically highs are not affected by burning in, only mids and lows, since the burning in affects the flexibility of the DD/BA unit, giving more room for the lower frequencies to be produced

Did an update to Rockbox... went quite smooth...
HAve been using it for just half an hour now...
I have to get used to the Rockbox functionality, but overall it's been an improvement:
-SQ seems to be better
-Gapless play!!
-no 2 second mute

A few niggles though:
When skipping through the four themes, I selected one that messed up everything.
I guess it was the Hi-Fi theme. Suddenly there appeared a chinese character before the titles, which I got to change to a sort of CE character.
Can't set it to a clean theme though. <edit: Ah, it just IS the 'icon' that I see before the text :-/   I guess it's bed-time for me ....>

Also I can't get CARD2 to work, must be a trick for it in some way...('HD1 NOT PRESENT') --> I see Bob A (SD) has mentioned something with playlist...can't get it working though... No ... hmm... hope this can be fixed in a way by developer :-)
And finally, when starting a song, it does wait for some 6-8 seconds before playing....(but hey, we got gapless-play in return :-)  )

Just some more trying to do....

Many thanks to the developer of this Rockbox-port!!!

Put Rockbox on my X3 today, not disappointed, only pain is redoing my microsdscards to fat32 and copying the music back over, ugh! I also noticed a delay in some songs starting right away, mostly on my high resolution flac files, but like you mentioned, gapless playback!

Anybody have a feel for battery life with rockbox?
From what I've been reading this is with lo gain only?

In any case what about battery life with high gain?

Is there enough power to drive iems of 16 ohms or 18 ohms?
Specifically lz-a2 or musicmaker tk12?

any suggestions for buying in the US?

Amazon has some x3 listed as Prime merchandise available for next day delivery. I think they're $129.

You are not following the instructions.

update*.zip should just be copied to your mSD card as update.zip. Not in any sub folder. Just in your root directory.

there will be only one folder added to your mSD card, which is the folder you unpacked from rockbox-full*.zip, with the name .rockbox
Thank-you for your reply, that's exactely what i did,i have the unpacked folder from rockboxfull.... and the update.zip non unpacked in the root of the microsd
Some help please

Thanks wastan for catching this.  I was unaware that Amazon had them which is why I posted what I did.

Here is the amazon info.  Despite the odd listing names they are xDuoo X3 DAPs.
Vktech X3 by xDuoo @ $110.00
Airmate ® Xduoo X3 @ $128.96

It has to be something minor that you're missing.  Are you sure the one folder has that period in front ".rockbox"?  And that you are running the xDuoo factory firmware update procedure correctly which acts on the "update.zip" file folder?  Both folders are in root location?  You configured your FAT32 formatted mSD card with these files/folders outside of the X3 on your computer?
   - Install this mSD-card into the X3 slot number 1.
   - Be sure that your X3 is totally charged. Turn on X3.  Normally update your player. To do this, in the menu "Setting" select "Upgrade";
   - The process of flashing will begin. After successful installation Rockbox will start automatically.

I have no idea then as to why the factory firmware update procedure is not recognizing the update-to-rockbox-d312ba8M-160316.zip renamed to update.zip file.

What I would try if I were you then is the older process involving either an XP or Win 7 computer, a JZ4760 driver, rockbox bootloader, and rockbox files.  What XVortex refers to as a "manual" install on his site http://xvtx.ru/rockbox/manual.htm.  It's how I installed Rockbox on my X3 and later updated with his revision files.  My post #2296 in this thread outlines the steps I used.

Haha, I have XP :-)

You'd better provide the information on your side since so many of us have done this without any issue.

Which stock firmware are you using? What kind of OS are you using? How did you do the steps exactly (commandline would be easier to follow, if you are using UI, be very specific on how you did those steps)? Otherwise, it's hard for other people to help you.

I did this in a Mac OS but I did have some previous experience in XP when I rockboxed my Sansa clip+ and clip zip. From what I can tell, the current instructions can be done on any OS very easily.

Win 7 SP1 64-bit

But demonstrate makes an excellent point ("You'd better provide the information on your side since so many of us have done this without any issue.").  As I said earlier your failure has to be something simple you're missing or doing wrong.  Only real way for folks here to help is to know VERY SPECIFICALLY step by step what you are doing. Detail is critical.

Just like j0p3Y was frustrated in not being able to have his Rockboxed X3 recognize his 2nd mSD card until he sanity checked and found to his surprise (and laudable courage to admit) that it was formated in ExFAT instead of FAT32 causing the problem.  Undoubtedly it will prove to be something just as simple you've overlooked or assumed was good to go.

I'm completely unfamiliar with Windows (which it turns out I didn't need to use), and my attempt ended with the same message you got. When I tried with my Mac, I saw the update file was named update.zip.zip. So when renaming it, it should have been just update. Things are easier in a Mac world (at least for me).
