My guess is the internal impedance is not the same on the balanced circuit compared to the single ended circuit, this will result in the volume knob attenuating the sound at different rates. But at max volume (no attenuation) it wouldn't be the case. Basically your potentiometer has a slightly different taper to it on one circuit vs the other.

Yeah, pretty much as I was expecting. Putting them in front of me just doesn’t seem to be my cup of tea, Even if they are put “all the way up to 11”. I guess that at the end of the day, it all comes down to whatever makes you happy.
But I’ll be putting these back in my ears, thank you very much.
How do you like the TA-22 with your Z1R's?

How do you like the TA-22 with your Z1R's?
I find that I like it quite a bit. I was playing around with the pair today and compared it against a Jotenheim 2. I found that the TA-22 vs the Jot 2 when both are hooked up to a Bifrost 2/64, the TA-22 was very comparable to the Jot2 I did notice that there was slightly more depth with the TA-22 and was just a hint smoother, but there was nothing that really stood out. I found the Jot2 has a flatter but wider soundstage. But in terms of pretty much everything else, they sounded very much alike.
The story changed though when I used the TA-22's ESS DAC. In that case, I noticed the clarity and separation that the Bifrost 2/64 provides compared to the ESS DAC, which was less resolving, had less separation and just seemed a tad less open than the 2/64. Note: I was using an optical input for the TA-22 and with the 2/64 I had Coax to RCA. The benefit of using an external DAC with the IER-Z1R is that I couldn't hear any noise!
Simply put, I think the TA-22 is a pretty good Amp and a decent DAC. The pair work well and the Z1Rs sound pleasantly open and organic with wonderfully fast and beautifully textured bass.

Today my new Meanwell PSU arrived at my doorstep. I heard good things about these PSUs but this 24V model produced a nasty high frequency beeping. I was so disappointed. The power supply that came with my MT-601s was better then that. Where do I go from this now? Is there any way to upgrade this psu?

My TA-26 is humming quite a bit. Not from the headphone outside, but the unit itself is making the noise. It's high enough that I can hear it through my openback headphones, and I'm wondering if there is anything I can do about?
Really like this thing with my new HD600's, but the buzz is annoying as I can hear it at all quiet passages in the music 😑
So, is there anything I can do about it, or is that just how they are?

I recall someone else had an issue with noise coming from their unit. Contacting customer service is what they ended up doing.

The perfect desktop companion? I believe so. After a week or two of the TA-66 residing exclusively on my desk, I've found its versatility with both headphones and IEMs alike to be outstanding (though the 109 Pro has easily been my favorite pairing.) Who's excited to get their hands on a unit when the TA-66 officially launches?! :raised_hands:

Since 3 weeks a Xduuo TA-20 Plus is in the house to give the Fiio M17 some tuby charakter. First impressions were ok, but the veiled highs were annoying. I missed to much details at the highs. So I changed the original ECC82 to JJ, Genalex or TAD tubes. JJ were better than the orinals, TAD very detailed and clear, but not tuby enough and Genalex Seemeilen to be the right compromise - warmer and good allrounder. The Xduuo sounded great with Grado gs3000e and Hifiman HE1000 Stealth.
But than, an Autrian Audio Composer arrived and it didn't sound better with the tubeamp than right out of the Fiio M17. It made fun with the Little Dot mk1 ( with Burson V7 Vivid and Muulard Tubres) because of it's punchy bass, but XDuuo was no advantage.
Goodluck I have ordered a 5Z4G , and that made a big difference - more than I expected from this tube! This tube was 30.-€ and changed this amp to another level.
The xDuuo now has clear bells, open violins, voices in front of you, warm wooden instruments, great piano, hard hitting drums and all that on a wide and deep stage - at least with the Composer. Love this combination!

That's awesome, I'm thinking about placing my order today. Are you still able to put the cage on with the new rectifier tube installed?

Yes, no problem. The new one is not much bigger.
Let us know your experiences!

I belief it's a Brimar because of the holes in the gatter.
