xDSD Gryphon: birth of a ‘head-fi’ legend
Nov 21, 2021 at 4:32 PM Post #406 of 3,834
Suffice it to say, we're aware that each our portable audio product should have some case, but there are no details about one for xDSD GRyphon at this time.

That's correct, we've been asked about a 4.4mm iEMatch dozens of times over last two years and we know many folks in here would find it very useful.

xDSD Gryphon's rear 4.4mm used as a line input would make it a headphone amp for an external DAC.
xDSD Gryphon's rear 4.4mm used as a variable output would make it a DAC with volume control for an external amp.

xDSD Gryphon sounds different than micro iDSD Signature and quite similar to our micro iDSD Diablo.

We've been already vocal about this for several weeks as several our DACs work with consoles, but thanks for noticing

We'll have an update shortly after this weekend!
Does it match power with either the signature or the diablo? I actually prefer the signature over the Diablo, but that's likely due to the xbass feature that the gryphon has.

How long did you burn-in for?
Around 20 hours.

Did somebody also have some issues with the bluetooth connection? I got some nasty noises while i am playing music via bluetooth. I tested it with two different smartphones and a dap. When i but both devices in a pocket with a distance around 1 meter, i always have issues with the bluetooth connection. I tested also different bluetooth profiles (LDAC, Aptx Adaptive and Aptx HD). :frowning2:

I did once, but I deleted the pairing and re-paired and its been faultless ever since.

XBass II is simply an extension of XBass+ - XBass II has presence + bass. XBass+ doesn’t. Hope that helps guys!

I see where you all are coming from now and will ask for you all, again, for more clarification on why this is the case with the Gryphon.
Hi Sebastien, can we get clarification on what comes bundled with Gryphon? Is it XBass+ or XbassII? If the device shows Xbass+ then we have serious misinformation here.
Clearly users that received the device show that it is etched and displaying Xbass+ while the official materials show XbassII.

Please clarify

In short, XBass+ and XBassII are the same exact thing except that XBass II has the extra fine bass selection of bass / prescence / bass & presence. Whereas XBass+ is on/off.

All xDSD Gryphon units feature the same exact XBass II circuitry inside.

The only issue is the silk print typo, which is purely cosmetic.

As per the specs: >320mW @ 32Ω
I have MoonDrop Variations which is 15.2Ω. Does that mean those can run at 640mw on SE?
At 1% THD, clipping: 64 ohms is 170mW; 32 ohms is 336mW; 16 ohms is 600mW.

So by extension the LED display is also incorrect that it only shows XBass+ instead of XBass II?

You guys really love to use non-specific marketing terms. So we have XBass, XBass+, XBass II , XSpace, 3D, 3D+, Active EQ, Bass, Presence and Bass + Presence. Kind of gives me a headache. I mean, is 3D or 3D+ the same as XBass II Presence? Or wait, we also have XSpace, maybe that's the same, or wait again, maybe it's just cross-feed... Jeez, guys... I still can't understand S-balanced... How about a tutorial on this stuff?

Seems like you can't even keep it straight yourselves.
