The sliding mechanism is made of plastic, I think that your pair has worn out that plastic, and it no longer makes a click. Then all you have to do is perform some mechanical operation on that part or buy the cheapest pair with a preserved headband.

At first listen (still haven’t got the time to compare both) it seems that the hd540 are a little bassier than the hd560. Also hd540 seems more forward in general. If I had to position them both. I would say the hd560 is like front row presentation while the hd540 is like being on the stage. What remains between both is the realism and instrument presentation. Despite feeling that you are close to the music you can definitely “feel” the space between the instruments and the overal room size. Sorry but I’m not the best at describing what I’m listening.

You described your impression well
What left the biggest impression on me was that in none of the modern headphones I heard such a complete sound as in the HD 540. They are simply Hi-end

I find it interesting that they sound good on quiet volume, but when I turn the volume knob on Bryston BHA 1 all the way, they open completely (600 ohm)
