In fact, at the moment I'm not interested in buying an upgrade, because I think a real upgrade would cost me a lot. I've heard a lot of good comments about the HD 800 but only when paired with selected and expensive equipment, ...- SDR mode, I would have to I hear because opinions are divided.
For now, I'm raising the quality of the incoming electrical in the amplifier ,and the signal in the DAC, I believe that the headphones will be upgraded in sound

sorry, I obtain zero as the only answer on my meter. It is set to ohms, as explained, but I couldnt find how to set it on 2k, even if pressing on the range button. My meter is a dvm1500 velleman. to answer about the serial numbers, the 300 ohms is 18266, the 600, 10572and for the half way is 003299
Your meter may be an Auto-ranging type, just set it to ohms (the little Omega icon), connect the meter across the main 6.5mm jack is probably easiest, as in the pics below. You can see the meter is set to Auto, Function button pushed to Megohms, the meter will read any impedance on this setting. You can see that both left and right channels read 609 ohms. Perfect.

Something's not quite right there, if you can hear music through your headphones you must have an impedance. The HOLD button's not on, is it?

I know something is wrong, and of course I should have a value. no, of course, the hold button is not on. maybe the meter is defective. but it works for other things

Yes,... after connecting the power cable to the DAC and Inakustik referentz USB, there is not a shred of distortion on any volume (although they require a lot of power), and everything went to a higher level.
The difference between the SE solaris connected to the Ibaso 228EX has increased even more with this upgrade.

The sound is very realistic and it’s like I have a helmet of primary sounds and I’m in a space filled with sounds and everything is clean, separated with exceptional resolution and the sound has the fullness I got by replacing the power cord

HD540_Set.jpg

So I have been going back and forth between these 2 HD540 Golds, 1 is 600 ohm model (serial 9XXX) and other is 300ohm (serial 19XXX) completely stock with all original pads and foams. Obviously they sound similar in some ways but differ in others, I felt the 600 ohm have a bit more body to it vs the 300 ohm and the 300 ohm certainly felt a bit brighter. It seems that both versions came stock with different pads, one is a stiff velour (not as stiff as Hifiman stock velour) and the other has a hybrid material with inner face consisting of some leather/pleather (I am sure someone can correct me on this). Comfort wise the 300 wins for me, the pads have a bit better seal and a bit more depth (both pads feel great in terms of condition for age). They're both very natural sounding with excellent tonality as most people here know, obviously with the roll offs they're not particularly great for EDM or bass heavy music but that's general knowledge, everything vocals and instruments is really outstanding though. Anyways, pretty happy to have these in the collection and will probably keep the 600ohm more for show and drive the 300ohm with my Darkvoice. Here are some measurements below :)

Matched at 84 dBSPL @ 300 Hz, with HPN compensation.

Thank you for measuring these! I have not seen a FR curve for golds since Goldenears.net. The site is no longer operating unfortunately. The og white pads on the 600ohm would definitely make a difference as well. Try your HD250 pads:thinking:

You're welcome! Oh interesting, was there stock white pads and velour pad versions for the 600ohm model, I've only seen the velour and the hybrid with leather inner face?

Lol Kind of random, but we should totally hangout sometime. I live in LA also. I own HE6, and HD540rg 600ohm also lol. Have you been to any The Source AV Design Group meets in the past?

You are rich, you have two couples in excellent condition.
Did you replace the cables on them or did you keep the original ones?
