I just bought an 'Insignia' 200W 2-Channel receiver off of eBay for $16.50. When I turned it on for the first time hooked up to my new Insignia bookshelfs I was horrified by what I heard. It was like... like... THERE WAS WAY TOO MUCH CRAPPY BASS! I then discovered that whoever had it before me had the Bass setting at +8 and the Treble setting at -4. It sounds pretty decent with the settings @ zero. Better than I thought it would for $16.50, and much better than the Sony 50W/ch. all-in-one shelf system that it replaced which was $250.

Anyhow, that goes to show you what most people look for with audio reproduction.

I'd prefer surround if I was into movies, but i don't watch many movies.
