So I got the HFI-780, and I do like them so far, but they are a ways away from where I'd like them to be.
The first mod I did was to remove the buffer board, as most people recommend. I just soldered the wires together in there, and ditched the board.
Interestingly, the board doesn't SAY HFI-780, it says DJ1. Are they the same? Has anything else happened other than the shorter cable with the new revision?
Removing that board did help the sound, although in addition to bringing out the midrange, it tilted the whole sound range up, so now I've got that treble I hated from the Pro 750. Looks like I'm heading into mod land.
