Am I crazy? Why do I like the Kramer modded portapros more than the Hje900's for Adele's 21? Is it because the album is mastered so horribly?

Because the HJE900's V-shaped frequency response isn't for everybody. I prefer my cheap cans (HD 485's) over these IEMs for this reason.

But I like it more for most music! Maybe the vocals on the album aren't forward enough?

Oh, well the vocals on the HJE900's are probably the worst I've heard in a headphone that's supposed to be good. Sorry, I'm not familiar with the music, it was just a general reply.

I also like the KSC75 for rock and metal far better than my other more expensive headphones, it's driving me nuts too.

My guess is it has to do with midrange.  The album is designed to feature her vocals, but headphones that emphasize the bass and treble too much would overwhelm the vocals.
