It usually starts like this.
 
I am interested in the DT880's and want to know which "ohm" to get..
 
Then the thread almost always degenerates into 
 
K701's vs Senn HD6xx ...
 
Leaving 4 of the 5 pages discussing AKG vs Senn.
 
Are the DT880's the red headed step child of the Mid Level Audiophile headphone world?
 
I have Heard things about the Beyerdynamics, and sibilance comes up often.
 
Or are the Senns and AKG just more ear friendly..

they are just more mainstream due to better brand recognition. Both are inferior to the DT880 overall (there are some aspects the others does better over the DT880 but in terms of overall). Yes, I've listened to them all out of the same setup at the same time, all of them burnt in.

I don't think anyone should say that the HD650 are inferior to the DT880. You can say they're equal but different, or one might be overall slightly preferential over the other, but inferior just doesn't sit right with me.
