why do 20$ no name headphones not distort the vocals when 150$ brand names do.

my 150$ shures sound incredible they are really clear but the vocals can distort sometimes. but i have these 20$ no name brand headphones that sound like trash except for the vocals. why is this.

What is your bitrate for your files? Or is this ssssssssssibilance?

Yeah...I think that good headphones and bad music files don't mix well in many cases.

my audio files are mp3 with a bitrate of 320kpbs

I'm noticing similar. It sounds like clipping, but it does not matter what volume / source I use (file is 320kbps mp3, or even the original CD).
 
I'm of the opinion that good headphones pick up the distortion present, while the cheap ones do not have the resolution to play what is there... well I hope so, as otherwise my gear is stuffed.
 
edit: i dont notice this on every song, just some select ones.

they are some cheapo brand i got for xmas. they say fashionation on them and they are red. i never use them but thats all i know.

and know i listen to metal rock punk and folk aswell as some classical when i am in the mood. i stay away from anything mainstream.

well i am 18 and my music style is much different then most kids my age. i barely know any of the artists they go on rants over.
