Whoa! Cnet Reviewed HD 800 And PS1000

I don't see any conflict between what people have said at headfi and CNET's review.

I don't even see a problem with him stating how it sounds out of an IPOD. The bulk of his audience would probably want to know that.

However it's all good for the high-end reviews but really, what do most people use Cnet for? Consumer stuff at prices most people want to afford at.
At that stage, Cnet is rather dodgy. e.g. the Maximo iM-590 review is contrary to what everyone says in the IEM subforum it sounds like.

"Oh dear, CNET is reviewing the HD800 and the PS1000! Snort! I didn't know that Walmart was expanding its home audio section. Chortle."

Do I detect just a hint of audiophile snobbery in this thread? I thought the reviews of both headphones were fair and reasonable.

Now let's retire to the billiard room for brandy and cigars.

There is a difference, the low-mid end stuff is reviewed by Jasmine France, not Steve. I was just backing Steve, not each and every review.

Agreed on the fair and reasonable part.

I laughed hysterically at the last sentence.

True but really, everyone in the IEM subforum = basically fire Jasmine tbh.
Tbh, her reviews would have more impact than Steve's because of CNET's demographic = dangerous tbh.

After the completely inaccurate iMetal bashing, I have lost faith in CNET's review staff with the exception of Steve Guttenberg who is always excellent.

Yeah, I think its a fair review, to be fair as well. Most of cnet users might buy them then wonder why they are so ****. They might also not understand why they can't even plug it into their ipod.

At least the review had the nerve to call the plastic parts plastic.
As to the first phone where the sound seems to come from the front, rubbish.
There again rubbish applies to a lot of cnet articles.

Try convincing the larger market to drop $1400 on a pair of phones.
Then try convincing them that they need to spend another couple thousand to make them sound good.
