You best be trollin'.
I think I said this several million pages back, but I really never thought there were that many of us here when I made this thread... Amazing.

Im not trollin around. See for yourself.

You put us all to shame. It's easier to argue buying a $2500~ laptop versus buying $2500 in headphone equipment. I envy you.

Uhm. A $2500 laptop won't last. $2500 worth of audio equipment will. Silly adults...

Especially if its a mac :p

I actually got pretty lucky last summer and landed a government 6 month contract for students! I was a "desktop support specialist" and was partially responsible for ALL of the (normal) federal and provincial office computers (and assorted gadgets) in Northern Ontario. Thing is, government workers are lazzzy, and they all save up vacation days for the summer, so the guy I was supposed to share an office with was gone; had my own windowed office for 5 weeks, and hardly anyone had pc problems since hardly anyone was at work! It was fun though, learned a lot, looks great on a resume (so I'm told, only 17 :p), and made enough money for my meager collection.

Also bought a pair of 5870s, I'll probably sell them and buy a 6970 >.<  Parents think I'm crazy, live on a sort of farm with horses and chickens and stuff so kind of out of place lol. Entire house is all rustic decor'd, and then there's my room filled with computer parts, books, and an old hamm radio that I used to mess around with, and now headphones <3, well 3 pairs (X1s, M50s, and Ms1s) but its a start.

Don't think I've gotten anything greater then $10 for lunch from my parents since I was 13... They bought me an old dell pc for school work, and I hated it and had to make it better lol. Thats what started everything.

That is a very expensive stack of gear you have there. I get a $25 a month allowance, and as I said, I don't spend it on anything but audio. Really adds up over time.

Even though, I don't know what to buy. HD650s are too rich for my tastes. I might be going back to sr80is. That leaves me with tons of money that I don't know what to spend on.

What would you guys spend $750 on? Talkin' complete setups here. source - amp - phones

I used to get an allowance. $20 a week. Now it is nothing. Dad makes more money, I get less. I hope I don't get sold on Craigslist.
I have just saved up $800. I am holding it with my life for my future speaker setup. Or something. I don't know.

$750? Used DACMagic, HD600, and a cool looking amp. Of course.

With $800 bro, I'd save for a little longer and buy the LCD-2. Besides the R-10, I have never had any other headphone take me to a more magical place (so to speak; I'm talking about audio nirvana). If you already have a decent amp and source, the LCD-2 will sound excellent. They sound excellent ampless from a PMP, if that gives you an idea.

I just remembered, I got my Headstage Arrow today as a belated birthday gift from my dad (I was born in Sept.).

I dont think you'd be able to sell your 5870 when the 6970 arrives 'cause the price of the 5870 is gonna plummet down dramatically when the 6970 has been release. You should probably save up some money and crossfire your HD 5870 when the price drops if your mobo and PSU can handle it. Just my opinion and good luck!

This is why I only believe in budget cards like my own 5770...

I already have them xfire'd. Total they were around $780, and the price isn't going to drop much... The last 4890s were selling fine when the 5xxx series dropped, and that was a jump from dx 10 to 11. With 69xx it's just an improved on 5xxx series gpu essentially, still dx11. There's lots of people out there who stay a generation behind to save on money, I'll have no trouble selling them for ~300 each I bet. It's not like having the 69xx series out is going to make them obsolete, a single one will still run almost any game with everything maxed easily (minus metro 2033).

Waiting for new AMD cores to come out before I buy a 1060? or a 975. ^^ Hopefully prices drop below $150.

Why? Sandy Bridge is the answer.

A bridge made of sand would easily be destroyed by a bulldozer
