i want something fairly cheap at the moment..sub 300ish..since ive not got much to spend, with uni starting and all so thats all, and with the govt giving money to students which im hoping they will...then i can go ahead and get an amp for 1200 or so..hopefully. but thats in april...so thats what i meant thatif i get some phones now and wait till april.

Yep, i'd go for a second hand pair of HD600's (or a new pair if you can afford it). Is it you're first year at uni, if so I din't think you'll get it (I think you have to be a returning student, that is studied in the prior year). Oh well, i'm not really sure.

For that price you could also think about going balanced. Which really brings out what the HD600 have to offer imo.

Now two of us have tried to sell him an amp.

Anyway, if you can wait three months and afford one of the better amp/dacs I would do that and get the HD600 now.
