Where do you buy your music? (CDs? Music service?)

CD's from a couple of specialist stores in Denmark. Lossless downloads from Linn Records site.

Always buy CD's rather than download.

Invariably I buy from local independents, where perhaps they cost a little more, but I hate buying from 'The Man'.

Depends on price but i get most of my vinyl and cds from used record stores/pawn shops/thrift shops, amazon used, auctions, local craigslist/kajiji, futureshop/bestbuy sale prices.

It's pointless to buy albums new most of the time, the markup and or record company whoring makes them very low value. You can buy the same album second hand/used for 1/3-1/4 of the initial cost and the artist already got their cut.

Vinyl and CDs here. Never paid a £0.01 for a single download.

I do use Amazon, but they aren't actually that cheap. Some of their marketplace sellers are better value than Amazon, but mostly they tend to be located Stateside and postage is a pain. Moviemars and Auralexploits are two of the best customer services for CDs and LPs respectively.

Otherwise, I buy straight from the band ~ and get the album autographed that way.

For classical music, Presto Classical, MDT are good, as is Gemm.com and the USA CDLP second-hand marketseller site. Even Play.com have some classical now and then, as does CD Wow and Grooves Inc which now has an eeee bay site.

Classical LP shops are great when you can find them. Most have closed down - even in a large city like London, England there are only a few and you need a filter gas mask and a pair of gloves to trawl through the disorganisation inside....

I get most of my stuff from Hastings. Their stuff is priced cheaper than Amazon and if they don't have it they will order it for you. I would support my local music store if they had a decent selection of the music I listen to but sadly they don't and they won't special order anything.

I bought some used cd's off Amazon.com, and if I have time I visit Amoeba in Hollywood,CA, usually has a great selection of used. If new then Target, Wal-Mart, Canturbury Records in Pasadena, CA, great local record shop and Amazon.com. I never bought any mp3's and unless it is the only way, but even then I still wouldn't want to. I like having the physical copy.

But am anxiously waiting for an online store like Apple Store to take on lossless files.

Can't you just buy a song, and say "Make WAV file"?

I buy all over the place.

Locally (Los Angeles) I like Soundsations, Ameoba and Record Surplus.

I also hit thrift shops and junk stores whenever possible. Same with pawn shops - the price of CDs has fallen through the floor because of downloading so most want to get rid of them cheap. Same reason CDs are cheap at the TRW Swapmeet I go to at the end of the month. I can get them for $2 or $3 each.

Online, I like eBay, Amazon and Berkshire Record Outlet.

Of course, I buy directly from artists, too.

I also occasionally download legally from archive.org.
