Homemade sauerkraut is really good. It’s basically 2 ingredients of just salt and cabbage but the technique is crucial for it to work.

I learned how to make it at a Jewish event about 3 years ago and the lady demonstrated to us the details.

You can also learn from YouTube videos too. It’s really good. You can make it spicy too but it’s not the same as kimchi which is totally different.

I love stuff like this: giardiniera, hots, sports peppers. It seems like pepperoncinis are the only thing grocers stock in MD so you have to go to the Italian market. I love sauerkraut too... homemade is the best.

My favorite pickles are the spicy ones they sell at the Dutch Country Farmer's Market in Laurel, MD. If I'm just going to the grocery store, Vlassics for their nice crunch. Not a big fan of Mount Olive, they seem to have a more mushy texture.
