Like one CD, one LP, one concert ticket, whatever. Instead of bragging about how much we have spent on gear, let's lament how much we've spent on music.

I think my most expensive purchase was my new Yoshimi red vinyl, which ended up being almost $50 .

Not much: the most expensive CD I've ever bought was a limited edition of Polar Sequence by Biosphere and Higher Intelligence Agency -- something like $22 USD (A very long time afterwards this title saw a re-release as an unlimited edition). I always complain that concerts are too expensive, but I've never spent more than $45 USD for one concert.

i spent $65 on the Vigotone bootleg of the Beach Boys' unreleased masterpiece, SMiLE.

when i was 16, i paid $40 for the original vinyl pressing of Frank Zappa's Over-nite Sensation. infuriatingly, it was stolen.

First pressing of Mike Oldfields Platinum, with the song "Sally" actually on the record. The song name remained and remains on all of the inlays to this day, but the actual song youll hear is "In To Wonderland". It was about £90 which is a little more than what its worth. But I shant be selling it.

Amateurs! You ought to try classical. I have 27 different versions of the Mahler 7th symphony. Now, using an average price of $15 per version...$405 for just that one symphony.

Most for one disk: $40 for some super hi tech disk with gold rather than aluminum as a reflective surface. Was it worth it? No.

It was something like $68 or $74 for a rare copy of Jim Croce's "Gold in a Bottle" DCC disc remastered by Steve Hoffman. Other than that, I've never spent more than $30-$35 for a single CD. Vinyl, on the other hand, can get quite expensive, and it's nothing to pay $40 to $50 per copy of new 200 gram pressings.

Was I happy when I ordered the Jim Croce disc? No. Was I happy when it arrived? Yes! The sound quality is much better than you can find on CD for nearly all of the classic tunes on this compilation. That, plus the fact that when you can find a copy of this disc, it is typically $150 or so. But would I do it again? Hmmm, it would have to be something pretty special.

nothing too extreme, but the JPop cds i bought are most always $30 for the Japanese-pressed version (not Overseas, etc.).

These are both before I could buy online -_-

CD: $44.95 for a copy of Epica - Consign to Oblivion CD+DVD version, waaay before it was even released in the US (now has been re-released by Candlelight Records USA) took 8 weeks to arrive ordered through the local shop.
Not worth it, album isn't very good.

DVD: $50 for a copy of Iron Maiden - Rock in Rio which I could get for like $15 online

$55 for as mint as I have ever seen of a sealed copy of Ozzy's metal grille version of "Live and Loud". I have 5 copies of that same album, 3 metal grille and 2 1995 Sony remasters. Yeah, I like that album
