my main amp is a 4 channel b22 with dual PSUs. I plan for my main source to be something like either a meridian 508.24 or a cambridge audio 840c. i listen to predominantly classical and jazz recordings, with my favorites probably being strings and orchestral, although i do listen to a fair amount of rock as well, albeit more mellow vocal style rock as opposed to heavy metal and such. i plan to pickup a pair of K1Ks as my main can but im really trying to figure out what would fill that void and compliment them nicely. some recabled hd650s (silver dragon or something of the likes) or would the fact that they both excel on classical be a waste here? my thoughts being that the HD650s bass presence and added comfort might be a welcome change from the k1000, although perhaps you guys can think of something that might pair better given my setup/musical tastes? any suggestions are welcome really, im just looking for some ideas truth be told - hopefully your experiences can help!

HD650 is the first obvious choice, but I would also recommend the JVC DX1000 (especially for jazz). It has a warmer, more intimate sound than the K1000, and a lot more bass (of very good quality).
I don't know about balancing them though.

I have K1000s and 650s (not balanced). The 650s could be a good choice in that their sound signature is quite different (lush in comparison to the K1000s), but equivalent in sound quality out of the right system. They also sound great with your tastes in music. I've heard the balanced beta, but not with the 650s, so I can't say for sure.

awesome. thats what i thought, i really love them from what ive heard of the 650s, but have yet to hear them with a really quality upgraded cable. given my tastes, would i be best going with something like a silver dragon balanced cable, or since the k1k kind of covers that grain in some ways would you say go for a slightly darker lusher sounding cable like a black/blue dragon or a cardas....?

Another vote for HD650's

I don't have your amp list, but I have your phone list.

HD650 with balanced Zu or Equinox cable. I used this and the K1000 as my two phones for awhile. Ended up selling the K1000 because I preferred the 650 out of my balanced amp over the K1000 system I had. But never did push the envolope with the K1000 like I could have.

cool, thanks for the informative posts guys, its really helpful hearing from those of you who have actually had experience with these 2 cans in your collection! so tom, youd say a Zu or Equinox cable for the 650's over a moon audio silver dragon or something - others agree - disagree - simply preference?

ive heard this quite a lot as well, however ive ALSO heard this about the silver dragon for the senns. how would the 3 compare....? pricewise they are all fairly similar no - give or take 100 bucks or so? I think the zu and equinox are a bit more than the moons...
