What model is the Sony MDR-7550 based on? Perhaps the MDR-EX600?

Sony has finally updated their site with pricing.  To my surprise, it retails for $349 and not the $499 price of the MDR-EX1000.  Does anyone know what the MDR-7550 is based on?  Perhaps the MDR-EX600?

With detachable cables, this seems like a US version of the EX-800ST...

Not exactly sure if these are the same as the 800ST but I used to own the MDR-EX800ST and they are one of the best IEM's I have listened to, I rank them highly and found them better than quite a few top tier IEM's including the much talked about and praised JVC HA-FX700(more balanced sound signature and equal or better sound stage) and the SM3(better timbre, dynamics, and balance). The EX800ST sounds more like speakers rather than IEM's, that's what impress me about these the most.

They do have their downfalls such as the long wire, lack of sound isolation and they wouldn't stay put if I walk around with them on, the fact that they are ported was the deal breaker for me.
