Wish now I'd bought the filtered earplugs in time. Had to wear regular earplugs.

I saw Mono a week ago and I had heard they played very loud shows, so I put in my ER-20s before they even started... during the first song I could hear someone in the crowd shouting "IT'S TOO LOUD! TURN IT DOWN!"

It is baffling as to why they'd play that kind of music so loud.

I read an interview with Taka where he said that they started that because nobody paid attention to them when they first started playing...seems kinda silly to me though, since they're still playing that loud.

Godsmack in september 2001

everything else has mostly been local bands at small venues

last show i went to was a couple of Evansville IN bands (Death of a Hero, Blood Tribe) and some not so locals (Destroy Destroy Destroy, Anal ****) at a bar... and much to my disappointment they dragged the bands out too long and i had to miss out on Anal **** because it was getting late and i had stuff to do the next morning... would have been great if they would have put Blood Tribe that plays at that bar nearly every weekend at the end so those of us who didn't want to stay there until 2:30AM could see Anal ****

We seem to have fairly similar tastes in music. I loved your list, I'd like to see over half of those bands live someday.
