AKG K701s

After two afternoons of auditioning and comparing,
I decided that I prefer them to HD650s.

The complement my Grados very well for classical music,
great soundstage and positioning.

An amp to my new DT880's. But I also need a new rack for the equipment, and some power chords for DIY purpose. Oh, and I would like a turntable as well! And loads of records.

And when I've got that, I want a better headphone amp, a better looking rack and a new PU/RIAA, and more records, and after that ...

i'm pretty satisfied with the phones/amps i have. no real desire for an upgrade. They are diverse enough to let me enjoy most music/recordings, though
I'm curious about K701, DT880, RS1 and a new source (DAC-AH, some chinese DAC, ...).

more likely, i'll be getting a good pair of closed cans for boston winter...

also considering building a PPA as the winter project. Given i generally prefer the overall character of HD650/pimeta (more fleeting, airy, sharper high) than HD650/M3 (warmer mellower softer fuller sounding), HD650/PPA maybe just what i need.

As far as cans are conserned, I doubt there will be any big upgrade, maybe a few trades here and there. What I really need, is a source upgrade, and a new potable amp. Might also be looking into a home solid state amp for my HD600, and to brighten up the HD650's.

The DT880's have also sparked my interest lately. The only thing keeping me away from them is not having an amp to power them! If there's a 32Ohm DT880 model that's easier to power, I would sure like to know about it!
