A faster way to check the number will be to click on the 'Quick Links' on the top right corner (under the "welcome, xxx") of any pages and hover your mouse over the last option 'my profile' and it should display on your IE or FF status bar.

What is the contributor title and how do you get it? It's a dead link so I can't click on it..

I got it for donating money to head-fi. I think contributing members now only get their name in bold.

This really is interesting! Some very familiar 'faces' at Head-Fi who literally missed the first half of things that happened here!

I know that in my case, it took a solid year to hit the 500 post mark, and then another year to hit 1,500 posts. Since then it seems to be an upward spiral. I remember feeling like a "newbie" for a long time. It probably wasn't until I began to attend Head-Fi meets that I was no longer intimidated by some of the long-standing members who always seemed to know so much.

The number also provides a good indication on when you joined. Logically the lower the number is, the earlier your join date is (and vice versa).

Yes, the numbers are sequential, so that's exactly what they show; a perfect indication, actually, time and date stamped with infinite precision.
