What is your favorite restaurant?

Alas, two of my favorites are gone forever:

Chasen's in Beverly Hills, CA (best steak ever, best chili ever, etc.)
Second Ave. Deli in NYC (best pastrami sandwich ever)

So that leaves:
Barone's (best pizza in L.A.)
Pizerria Due (best pizza in Chicago)
Grimaldi's (best pizza in Brooklyn)
Le Tub (best burger I've ever had, Hollywood FL)
Chef Chu's in Palo Alto (best local chinese food)
Thai City in Palo Alto (best local thai food)
Michael's (near Los Feliz in LA...my favorite steak in LA)
Peter Luger's (best steak in Brooklyn)
Carmine's in NYC (great, convenient Italian food near Times Square)
La Cumbre (Mission district of San Francisco, my favorite burrito)
Katz's Deli in NYC (second best pastrami, somewhat inconvenient location)
Carnegie Deli in NYC (third best pastrami, convenient location)
Blue Bayou in Disneyland (awesome location, best Monte Cristo sandwich ever)
D'Allesandro's Cheesteaks in Philly (best Cheesesteak ever, way better than the Pat's, Geno's, and Jim's!)
Union Oyster House in Boston (best clam chowder, best boston cream pie, great historical place)

For Convenience (chain restaraunts):
In'N'Out (best fast food burger)
Chipotle Grill (best fast food burrito)
Noah's Bagels (best bagels I've found on the west coast)
Pasta Pomodoro (their Fettucine Alfredo beats Macaroni Grill, IMHO)
Escape From New York (a local chain, best local pizza)
Original Pancake House (best pancakes ever...49er flapjacks! great bacon too)
Max's Restaurants in the SF Bay Area (best local desserts, best local pastrami sandwich)
Lucille's in Torrance, CA (I think this is a chain...my favorite barbecue place, I use their BBQ sauce at home)
Cheesecake Factory (best cheesecake)

(I'm sure I'll be editing this as others come to mind)

there are other more recent threads discussing similar topic. many of the restraunts in this thread may be out of business now too. This thread would have been a better bump IMHO.

Sichuan garden? It's good but too expensive. Check out Shanghai garden on brighton and harvard ( in Allston ). It's very authentic. Also in Allston is Aneka Rasa, good malaysian food. For Dim sum, there's Chung Shin Yuan in Newton, near watertown sq and Shangri-la in belmont. They're always crowded and 15 mins before opening, there's a line. Chung shin yuan is better imo.

The most romantic restaurant i've been ( best experience ) is Rama V in KL, Malaysia. It was my gal's bday. They have individual glass/wood huts for hire surrounded by greenery. Place nicely lid with candles and lanterns. The manager even went out to buy a cake not in his menu for me. Great service, great ambience, great food, great night!

you've been to Sichuan Garden in Framingham?

I enjoy Chinatown restaurants, especially Penang, Taiwan Cafe, and East Ocean City. I also enjoy "Victoria's Seafood" around the BU area.

And my friend's mom actually owns Shangri-La!

Oh, you know what...i mixed up sichuan garden in framingham and szechuan garden in brookline village....lol...

I haven't been to victoria in 2 years. Penang (harvard sq) just jacked up their prices....damn it....it used to be reasonable.

You friend's mum owns Shangri-la? Can i get a vip/discount card? hehe...

Some great ones in San Francisco:

- Alioto's (Italian Seafood on the Wharf, $$$)

- Tapas? (small plate fusion place in SOMA)
- Eliza's (Great Chinese, Potrero Hill)
- Amasia (Great Sushi, Castro/Duboce Triangle)
- Memphis Minnie's (Awesome BBQ, Lower Haight)
- World Sausage Grill (do I need to explain
